SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

LOL. OK. It's clear that you have no clue how order routing works or that NSDQ, EDGX, BATS, and most other Exchanges/ECN's allow HFT algos to pull their order internally before you can hit it....and let's not even get into what happens after your order is rerouted.

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

The fact that you think everyone trades using "models" and you can't figure out how to know they are pulling quotes when an order is sent is enough to realize this discussion is going nowhere. Good luck. BTW- if you use an "all or none" order type on anything remotely resembling size, you will...

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

You can lengthen your time frame as long as you want. Doesn't change the fact that when you try to exit your position, the quotes will pull as you try to hit them.

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

How can you account for it in your fill modeling when you don't know which bid/offers are real, and which will get pulled as you try to hit them? Plus you have to account for it on the entries and exits. It's impossible and you know that.

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

Please tell me how a small trader can "adapt" when he tries to buy 3000 shares at the offer, but the offer immediately disappears as his order is sent and he gets 280 shares instead of the 3000 he was due. Now he has 280 shares instead of 3000. He sells the 280 shares for a .30 cent gain...

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

I was going to respond, but your reply was pretty much sums it up. Well said. Let me just add- I don't think HFT manipulating the rules is the problem. They are just doing the same "legal" things like we did as the old "SOES bandits". The real problem is the SEC. They are either too stupid to...

SEC to Congress: Nonsense, the markets are not rigged.

Keep trading your 1 lot and be blissfully ignorant about the cumulative amount of $ stolen due to HFT "slippage" as you called it. In stocks, it's impossible to get size on and off without massive HFT theft.

Camille Paglia - Repeal Drinking Age back to 18

I think the drinking age should be lowered to 19. That would keep high school seniors from getting drunk at lunch and going back to class. Kids these days at 18 have been so babied they can barely think for themselves. By 19 they are out of high school and have been on their own in college...

US$1 million is not enough for retirement

Exactly. For 10+ years I laddered CD's and rolled them over as they would come due. Thanks to the Fed, I haven't opened a CD in many years and it doesn't look like I will be anytime in the next few years. That's 6+ years of interest income stolen from myself and other hard working Americans.

US$1 million is not enough for retirement

1 million in the tri-state area around NYC is no where close to enough to retire for "30 to 40" years. I'm sure it's the same in LA, San Fran, Chicago, D.C., etc. The Fed's ZIRP has really screwed the savers and fixed income retirees....all to save some banks that should have been allowed...

    NYPD's Twitter photo contest backfires

LMAO! That one of the guys leg getting run over always cracks me up. Especially after I watched the video of him sticking his leg under the motorcycle to stage a "police brutality" photo. Typical Occupy Wall St nonsense

    Today France, tomorrow the U.S.

The wealthy were the first to leave, now the young, smart, and ambitious are fleeing France's overbearing taxes and stifling business environment. http://www.cbn.com/tv/3255110732001 This is the U.S. in the not too distant future thanks to Obama and the millions of parasite voters.

Olympic lifters/Crossfit workout and diet thread

Hi Leap. Unfortunately, there is a slight wobble on mine. I always just assumed it was because I had two "day laborers" put it together along with some other equipment, but I see Drownpruf has the same issue so maybe it's not a good fit for you. Quick funny story about the wobble- The...
