    osaka nikkei 225 mini

sgxnk has the interesting characteristics: - bigger than mini but much smaller than big nik - opens earlier in morning and lunchhour with gap free lunchbreaks - sgx data is free

    osaka nikkei 225 mini

Schaefer, Have a look at STW and maybe KOSPI (you could effectively mini-trade it using the DOTM options market). They are more freely ranging markets than nk.

Is IB that good or that bad?

IB is good. The customer service base level can be as frustrating as dealing with a bank. But the extra support you get here can make up for it.

IB -- Interactive Brokers Don't forget SPI (opens an hour earlier than Nk at present), STW and KOSPI.

    IB MACD not accurate?

If when you refresh the chart it uses ib's 5 second data (correct to all highs and lows) but when its live it uses their live data (0.2 second snapshots so some prices are missing) then you will see that happen. I don't know how IB form their charts though ... I use Sierra Chart.

    daytrading, where to start?

For "how to trade" try Alexander Elder's books plus Marcel Link's book. For understanding the markets just troll around here and around T2W. Its all there if you spend the time and make some notes.

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

To the last poster - I doubt it. To ET99, the above statement is one of the funniest on ET this year. Enjoy.

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

Its on my secondary list and I keep thinking about creative ways to take advantage of the OTM options. STW and SPI were really nice trendy markets and I added a currency purely for something uncorrelated (sometimes the stock indexes are too close to correlated for me).

Trade after work -- Trade HSI

LOL ET ... you're arrogant to the point of funny. I'm guessing that'll pay off in your trading. Personally I stopped trading HSI because of a number of factors. The primary one was that it had gone "wild" after the Shanghai traders arrived and the tight stop strategy I used was invalidated...

It takes a special person to accuse others of reading disabilities when one clearly suffers spelling and memory disabilities. Perhaps the grandstander is also not attached to the truth?

IB shutdown - How did they solve your loss

Adding to the responsibility for losses issue. You have to be joking. You pay someone a couple of bucks per trade (of which a small proportion is profit) and then expect them to carry the financial risks if something goes wrong? Have you tried to get your ISP to pay for your trading losses...

    High Speed Internet

Its your data provider running out of steam not your internet connection (to prove this try tripling the number of stocks you observe during normal times for equivalent volumes).

The thread about fat ugly traders is: - funnier - more relevant - more useful :)

The Fall of the Dollar - Does it Matter?

Many things in economics take a while to take their toll. So generally when a currency devalues the improved competitiveness of the country (US) takes a while to impact on the increasingly less competitive countries (Europe). Like the markets, by the time the mass of the press/population...

Are IB blackouts really that bad? And that often?

Actually you will almost certainly find that they do have redundancy. And it normally meets your objectives for 95% or more of the customer base on 95% or more of the fault events. You will also find that a fire or an axe probably wouldn't have achieved the friday event (that pleasantly...

Are IB blackouts really that bad? And that often?

    1. I don't trade during US hours so I didn't have any problems when you guys did. My servers and exchanges performed flawlessly (is this symptomatic of the whole US economy/dollar thing - are you guys going down the tube??) 2. Wrong on numbers by an order of magnitude. Count them (you can...

    Dr Van Tharp

You have bought the story anyway. Tharp has a habit of sounding like he developed researched stuff which he "borrowed" from others and altered a little. He also leans on NLP models that are largely discredited and just laughed at by the scientific community. Not worth the money. If...
