How do i get my $750,000 back from Binary Options

If you really have $750k on the line you can afford to fly your behind over to Isreal and hire either an attorney, a couple of big dudes, or both and compell the guy to turn over your money. If you're not willing to do that then it would seem to indicate you simply don't care that much.

You cant eat private equity IRR returns

Thanks, that's interesting. Sounds like it is supposed to be the "2" they're just self dealing without disclosure in many cases, which as an LP I'd certainly be pissed about!

You cant eat private equity IRR returns

What? Certainly in the VC corner of PE they don't charge any fees to portfolio companies at all. Are you talking about board member pay, or something else? I would think LPs who are pretty relentlessly driving down 2/20 wouldn't stand for what would be pretty blatent self dealing. That's what...

You cant eat private equity IRR returns

Why do you say that? You get rich running a PE fund by the percentage if the total return you get. Given the choice of a 12 month investment with a 100% IRR which comes to $10M (so you get $2M if lucky enough to still get 2/20) or a 5 year investment with a 20% IRR that gets you 20% of $500M a...

I think you posted to the wrong thread, this is the lumber one.

Rolling an option... What are the cons?

I think it's inherently deceptive/confusing/incorrect to call it "rolling" an option. You "roll" futures positions. You eat all the theta and then buy/sell another option with options. Not at all the same thing.

Best way to short Orange Juice

I was actually looking for the opportunity if you were well funded precisely because it's not readily available to retail and may be small enough to do with low 7-8 figures but also small enough that it's not worth it for anyone big enough to arb it out. It sounds like a very inefficient and...

Best way to short Orange Juice

In all seriousness, have you looked into what it would take to arb spot and futures for lumber? After reading your post last night I looked at the specs, which were as clear as mud about who gets to choose where it's delivered and how much shipping is. You clearly have been doing this particular...

What factors affect the fair value of forex futures?

Or to simplify the formulas, forex futures are purely mechanically linked to the spot price by current interest rate of the same duration and time.

Top rate for 1256 contracts for CA resident?

You're right, I flubbed both that and the math! That gets you 26.8% (.6*.2+.4*.37) plus the 3.8% net investment for federal marginal rate, plus as you mentioned CA and most states just tax all investment income as regular income so you add your state tax. Or indeed to simplify it all move to...

Top rate for 1256 contracts for CA resident?

1256 contracts are taxed at 60% long term 40% short term, so if the top marginal rate is 37% and the LT rate is 15% then you end up with 28.2% federal marginal rates on 1256 contracts assuming you're in the top tax bracket, which was the OPs question. Assuming you're also hit with the 3.8% net...

    Very conservative consistent strategy?

The OP posted: "Ok, so I run a strategy that only uses available capital for a small amount of time and runs on a quarterly system. The question is, during the other 2 months between earnings announcements, how can I make an extremely small profit with very little risk? Treasury bonds? Stupidly...

    Very conservative consistent strategy?

Since the OP specifically asked for NOT THAT, no one suggested it. Try reading the original post maybe?

spx - why is cash settled an advantage?

I think you are missing something on the margin side. If you buy a call or put with SPX the price of the call or put is the only thing you have to provide. If it settles in the money, you get the cash difference between the strike and your price deposited in your account. That's it. If you had...

SEC Chairman Wants to Let More Main Street Investors In on Private Deals

Very good points. I'll add that scamming is even more likely because of the very nature of startups, where even the legit ones can seem like they're operating in fantasy land both with the nature of their technology and the aggressiveness of their business plan. Much harder to detect a scam if...

SEC Chairman Wants to Let More Main Street Investors In on Private Deals

I would guess the vast majority of term sheets have a clause in them that says something like if you sell your shares pre-IPO then every shareholder of that class has to have the option to sell their shares with you on a pro-rata basis and buy the shares on a pro-rata basis, along with a bunch...

    Very conservative consistent strategy?

You can also use options and futures to set up a risk free position that captures the risk free rate. I throw that out for completeness, with transaction costs and the value of your time it's probably much easier to just buy a Treasury unless you have some specific timing issues.

SEC Chairman Wants to Let More Main Street Investors In on Private Deals

As someone who has done the rounds with VCs and angel investors, I can't imagine trying to start a startup while at the same time soliciting a few thousand dollars here and there in dribs and drabs from random joe investors, not to mention the time sink holding their hands and dealing with them...

"Inflation Will Run Amok", DiMartino Booth Says "Gold Is The Ultimate Hiding Place"

It's funny, inflation has been about to "run amok" since 2009, these same folks have been dead certain about it. I guess a stopped clock is right twice a day, at least if it's an old analog one. But if one had bought gold or shorted bonds the first day they claimed this you'd not only have...
