I could've sworn the picture you posted was after the signal bar had finished forming. Was I mistaken?

    CL Redux

October was a record month, Nov not far behind it, and Dec is behaving not much differently. I have a very specific set of trading rules and I'm getting better and better at following them, so unless price action behavior, which seems to have behaved the same in all time frames as far back in...

    A New Trading Term

Good God, Arthur! Do you have any idea the effect it has on me when a gentleman says anything to me with the root "alea" in it???

If it makes you feel any better, CL will condition me to become a scalper after I patiently try to let winners run and watch good profits turn into break even trades. Then I take a small profit and it runs 4 times more without me!

Actually I thought 1235.00 was an excellent long entry (counter-trend intraday, with-trend bigger picture), but the 2-point profit target didn't meet my risk:reward criteria, so I called it a day! Sitting on the sidelines is fine as long as you don't let frustration of missing a move...

1238.50 was a golden entry point! I've decided this is an ongoing fact of trading. As soon as the market conditions you to do a certain thing (such as start scalping CL), the next day it does what you were conditioned for before that (such as letting winners run) :p I was reading emails...

    CL Redux

Nice trading NE and thanks for the kind words. I too am indebted to Al Brooks! The CL price action prior to the FOMC announcement shows very clearly the exact time period I was away from my desk. Sorry for not announcing. It was the cleanest short signal of the day. :D

    Testing a new strategy

When the next signal appears on your real time chart, please post "buy" or "sell" here as soon as it appears. Once you post that here, the post can, in fact, be "unsent", but I doubt you'd want to unsend it after going to all the trouble to post it.

    Testing a new strategy

The risk is in the fact that the arrows you see on the charts are the ones left behind because price finally doesn't run against them. There are many other arrows that appear and as soon as price runs against the signal and through that tick of perfection the arrow vanishes. Only the successful...

    Testing a new strategy

Amazingly, I see your thread is still alive and you've yet to post a real time signal (which involves nothing more than typing "This HH:MM am/pm candle forming is a buy/sell signal"). Question 1: Since you are able to post long paragraphs and screen shots, surely you can post at least two...

    A New Trading Term

Senor Deco, Dwell not so intently upon triosgenation as upon "a new trading term". Your dream, though influenced by vine and feline, draws you into a new trading term, which originates not* from such, yet perhaps offers you the incentive to abandon your 1-second charts in favor of a more...

    CL Redux

The look of the daily chart is extremely bullish to me, but I'm working really hard not to form opinions, because when I form an opinion I will watch a massive move run without me while wait all-too-patiently for a signal in my opinion's direction. Which, although far better than averaging down...

    CL Redux

Question for long time CL traders: When does volume typically drop off during the year end holidays? The week of Christmas and New Year's? Or does CL tend to provide enough intraday action to make trading it worthwhile during this time of year?

Are stops a complete joke ?

This is true, but you're referring to some very advanced tactics. A beginning trader can learn much more easily to wait patiently for setups, accept losses, let winners run and basically end up net profitable without mastering the tactics you're referring to. Not that I would dissuade anyone...

Taking 410K to 4million by Year End 2010

Neke, you wily trend-follower. How come you're doing what the HERD is doing? Haven't you been following all the experts on ET who insist that only us dumb retail losing traders do what the HERD is doing. Well, here's to some more "dumb" trading next week :D

Are stops a complete joke ?

I'm definitely able to move my initial stops to break even on 90% of my losing trades, but if I moved my stops that quickly, I'd be taken out of most of my winning trades. Moving stops too quickly is worse than using no stops if you're trading a system with high positive expectancy, because...

Are stops a complete joke ?

If you "widdled down" your accounts because your initial stops got hit too often, then you need to learn how to trade. If it happened because you moved your initial stops before price reached your your minimum profit target zone, then you need enough capital in your account to get over your...

Are stops a complete joke ?

A retrace in one time frame is a reversal in another. What an inexperienced short term retail trader tends to do is switch time frames when a trade doesn't act the way they expected it to, based on their opinion of what price should do. This is often considered a viable strategy by inexperienced...
