I'm not a scalper, I'm all or none. I had 7 trades that showed nice follow thru out of the gate and came back to b/e or so and 4 trades where I locked in 30 ticks. I have no way of knowing when a runner will occur and I want to be conditioned to catch the runners.
Yeah, it's a always nice when your trading rules and the technicals work almost to the tick :)
Gap up and buying pressure out of the gate, straight to the 20-day EMA. Almost no pullback at all, so a measured move breakout of the 20-day EMA was likely. Support well-established @ .33, for a...
I agree with Mark here. There are times where the stop loss that takes you out of a trade at a loss should be doubled to take into a trade in the other direction. Not always, but sometimes, and that new position pays for the loss many times over. This most commonly occurs when a trend reversal...
I am only beginning this plan of adding to winners, so I don't have the "live" experience yet. I have manual back testing experience. My tactic of initiating on a pullback and adding on a breakout is one of many scaling tactics. If I get into a trend off an early reversal signal, and the...
I'd only be adding in a clearly defined trend, not a narrow stair-stepping channel, or in a range. You want strength or weakness to be exuberant so the breakouts are powerful. To be safe, I'd only add to a winning position at the breakout level (1 tick above/below the previous high/low), not...
That's my top goal this year, adding to winners in a trend. Just as a bank only lends to those who prove they're financially sound, adding to winners uses your existing success to finance future success. If you're in a winning trade, you have unrealized gains to "re-invest" in something you're...
While I'm doing my end of week review, analysis and study, I take breaks, go outside, get some fresh air and sunshine, then surf ET a bit, before resuming my work.
Just when I'm about to lose all faith in the ET trading community from reading things like, "don't daytrade you will lose money"...
Handle, your swing trading is way out this ADD trader's time frame!
At the point I'm ready to give swing trading a try, I'll be looking to play 3- to 5-day swings.
"If you have an investment thesis you like, run it by people who support the other side of the argument. See if you still...
Hooti, you went long near the high and when price broke that little resistance shelf and took you into your trade and didn't go any higher to test that previous high, get out, it's a failure. Your ideal long entry is off the higher low put in around 9:50 ET, buy as price breaks back up through...
C is approaching major resistance (5.07-5.20) where it fails again and again. The smoothing effect of a long time spent at these low prices, has it finally trending nicely above its 200-day moving average. If it can break out and the 5.00 level can then become support, you may not have the...
Thanks, RA. Some day I'm going to swing trade this thing, and I'm always curious about various entry points, trade management, R:R, etc. I never even gave thought to hedging, which I think would be important.
OK, I had that same TL on my chart.
I'm going to throw in my 2 cents because I know you're a "risk addict" and won't care if I do.:p
It seems risky to me to enter a swing long when price broke down the 20-day MA and closed beneath it and that TL is still 3 points away.
On a...
