Niederhoffer Asks What is a Trader?

No. 18 is very "deep" and "rarely" seen!.....truly hard to understand, never mind "know".

Yukoner and JSmith discuss - feel free to weigh in

Yes indeed, I thought you might recognized the deeper meaning. Maybe another time. Looking forward to this thread.

Do you know why you make money in trading?

Because I can follow my own rules!

Yukoner and JSmith discuss - feel free to weigh in

For me (even though there is no such a thing as a "me", "I" nor the "self"). A method that can be relied upon and applied to the market that has consistent repeatable opportunities.

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

Luck is nothing but a word, yet, it cannot happen to anyone else. There is no such a thing as luck, this is only looking at the surface.....again, all meant to be.....at the right time, the right place, the right person. (with the right conditions the effects will follow)

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

In a sense, if you read between the words, looks like yes. On the other side of the coin would be limitations. We all have limitations, the question is why?.....again, how deep do we want to go? Yes but this so called ("the intention" to know how) wouldn't be in the initial starting point for...

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

90% thing has nothing to do with the current discussion.....nor the title of the thread. So according to you, your "perception" of the markets are nothing but numbers?.....ok. Then I have a question: Just because you cannot see, does that mean everyone else is in the same position?

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

On a surface level, I think there are quite a few elements to it such as determination, challenge, pro-active, will power, open-minded, focus, concentration, right understanding, a need to analyse and to know more, effort and maybe perfectionist. You can probably group all these under "right...

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

I say initially, the great majority are attracted to the markets because of money. Some will evolve (due to losing) and will seek that deeper understanding. Most just give up. I don't think you can put money and (the result) together because there is a "gap" there. Result comes after change...

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

So technical is ok. But not personal.....which are/is? So what if I ask the question: What does your trading plan say? So if you have a plan/method, then how can there be personal issues?

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

Success = BLASH (buy low and sell high)/ SHABL (sell high and buy low) Failure = BLASL (buy low and sell lower)/ SHASH (sell high and sell higher) Is this not all you want to know? isn't this the pattern?

Why Do We Trade? For Real.

Understanding does not "know".....yes? so details are fabrications. This is where work is involved.....a road to discovery isn't it? motivate to do what? What makes you think there is a "you" there? and what exactly is "you"? can you define this?

    Post of the Month

I think he does use charts as per his recent messages. I wouldn't use the word "advanced".....I say it is something that cannot be seen with the eyes.....but seen with the mind!

    Market psychology. The secrets.

Which is?.....4d? How much IQ do you think is required to succeed? (minimum) Actually "time" doesn't exist in a sense.....right?

Is a demo account waste of time?

There is no difference between a demo and a live account. The difference is in the "mind" of the trader that discriminates.....(biased due to a rush to make money / influenced by reading/others.....impatient and greedy) Live trading is a trap where the trader is being tested on his/her...
