Seasonality is historically strong for the summer months and particularly for July. August - not so much.

I'm proud to say I never spent any $$$ on courses even when I was a gullible newbie, but I did buy (and read) a ton of books. Probably exceeding 100. I seem to recall his book as one of the good ones, but I can't recommend it as it's such a long time since I read it.

My biggest complaint with NT is that they used to support multiple brokers in futures, but later on eliminated all other options than Interactive Brokers and their own brokerage.

As it is now - a lifetime license works for both NT7 and NT8. You can even run NT7 and 8 simultaneously using the same license key. This would also be true if you bought a lifetime license back in the day on NT7. NT9 should be many years into the future. And I would expect that version to work...

If you lease a license it ain’t that long before you pay more than for a lifetime license. Also, a lifetime license gives you better rates. There is also the OrderFlow suite, but I don’t know if that’s of value as I have not tried it yet.
