Well, I have to disagree with that. If you know with very high probability that the day high/low is in by the first 90 minutes surely that's useful information. And who's to say that can't be predicted in advance...? Besides, a good trading model will always be updated intraday as the day...

The one low-high day putting in both the low and high on the last hour was the 6th of March in 2020. Now, all this knowledge may not translate to profitable trading, but knowing what's normal and what's to be expected on any given day sure is helpful.

Well, to clarify, I did say that these were statistics for days going from low to high by the close. You can call them low-high days for convenience. The other type of day would be a high-low day. Going from high to low. These two type of days will divide your data-set roughly in half. So...

Both ES/NQ reversed/stalling at Friday's Close for now. Not much counter-movement, though. The only thing that would surprise me today is if we actually see any sustained selling below 4K. I just don't see it today. Most likely we grind 4013-4020 before we start moving higher.

I would be very happy with 4067.50, but that seems like a stretch today on a holiday. We covered a lot of ground last week, so might be taking a breather here, IMO. I'd be curious if we could tag ~ 4030 today, but I'm not holding my breath. :)

Agreed. Even if AI should be a concern to the (manual) retail trader, I'm sure it's not a worry in the immediate future.

4030 today? It's a holiday, so probably not much happening. Low volume grind higher or range bound. Could you expand on that interesting comment...? As for the statistics I provided earlier they were slightly surprising to me, but only slightly. I was expecting there to be a slight bias...

I meant to reply to this comment earlier, but got sidetracked. While it's true that last year was a down year in actuality 51 % of the trading days had the Main Move Up. If we look at the 10 largest ranges for 2023, 6 out of 10 had the Main Move Up. In fact, the 3 largest intraday ranges...

End of week update on the daily chart. We did get a breakout of that range and traded up to that level, but first a pullback to top of the range. Okay. Actual high was 4024,25, so 5 points shy. So, where to from here...? :)

Update by end of week. Personally, I got chopped up on that pullback to the top of the range.
