I wouldn't say you need three touches as I don't think there are any rules for this except the ones we create or discover ourselves through testing. I adjusted it on my chart to have 3 + touches. It doesn't make a big difference to me. You have data on that or is it just an assumption...

Another perspective. We're definitely coming into a zone that have had some significance in the most recent past.

Similar view on SPX Daily. Which also highlights why I think we're in a potential sell zone. Personally, I think it'd be nuts to start shorting on that basis alone. So, I'm not. But I'm paying attention for sure. Monthly supply/demand on SPX below. Currently bounded by supply at ~ 4150 and...

Trend lines Funny how everyone's chart are looking different. I think this must come from different ways to draw them AND also using different trading hours. I use the US Equities RTH session strictly which should be the same as the cash index. I don't think TradingView offers that one, but...

Didn't I say the HOD would most likely come in the last hour and that 4100 would be a point to start considering an exit? :) I'm not sure trend lines is a factor, though.

    Manual trading and profitable?

Here's the 5 last days on the e-mini S&P 500 futures contract using a 5-minute chart. Related to the opening post and some comments along the way. 1. Why can't this be manually traded? Surely there's plenty of time to both enter and exit? 2. Why would a manual retail trader need to concern...

Right NOW is a classic time to understand and trade "Price TA"

This thread is worthless without an example/demonstration by thread starter @Scataphagos. Like I wrote elsewhere - the daily chart on the SPX is now in a spot where both bulls and bears can be hindsight geniuses in a few weeks. By that, I mean it can appear like we're breaking out, but we're...

LOL. I didn't say we'll stop at 4100, but if I were long I'd at least start looking for an exit there. That's where you pay attention in real time and watch for continuation or a reversal. We may very well blow through. I've no idea. In terms of ranges, the weekly range RTH is now greater than...

Conservative target, but you never know. Could be that someone wants to sell into that level and we've had a good week to the upside already, so no need to be greedy. I just closed out a small scalp (3.5 points) at 90 as I just came home and I'm calling it a weekend. It's a Friday night here...

Ninja Trader seems not so good compared to TWS...

No worries. I've had my share of hair pulling with NT and particularly NT8 (which I'd say should have stayed in BETA for many years longer than it did. In many ways I experienced it as a poorer platform which isn't really how a new and improved version should play out. I do think I even...

You're brave. Selling into a rising market or generally just fading/selling a range high intraday is very difficult for me. Like the most difficult trade - even if I have a valid signal. I think I lost too much money in the past doing that, so I guess I'm scarred. We're still in a sell zone...

Markets seem to be back in 'free money' and BTFD-mode for now. Time for a rug-pull, soon? :)

HOD most likely coming in the last hour today. Maybe 4100. Most likely, that is. You never know for sure. If you did, you could bet the farm. :)

Ninja Trader seems not so good compared to TWS...

Poop because you're not offered full functionality out of the box for free? Why would it be free? That's just not fair. And you're the first I've heard saying TWS is better than Ninjatrader or any other software for free. The last I heard is that TWS is very dated. Regardless, I'd love to hear...

Done. Now, watch us rally... :) PS: Not the best entry, so it was a close call. 10 points is my maximum stop on ES, but I prefer to keep closer to 5.

NQ clearing the Open is a good sign. Might see that pop after all.

Exactly. That's why I've always struggled a bit with the concept of volume analysis on index futures. That's not to say it's useless or anything like that. I do pay attention to volume, but I'm a bit cautious against reading too much into it. I do use a faster volume chart as my fast chart, though.

I'm just looking at the day type and current behavior. Range bound and slow. If we get a 57.25 print from here I'm probably calling it a day as there's a good chance the next pop will fail around 59. We can get that late session melt-up, but probabilities aren't strong enough for me today. This...

    ES Journal - 2023/2024

May not see any big moves for today's session. There appears to be a slight bias for a pop higher by end of day, but I'm not extremely confident in that outcome. More of a mixed bag as opposed to yesterday which had very strong probabilities of an up move.

Bit of a snoozer, wasn't it. One would guess up from here, but that's just at a glance on the charts from my soul sucking day job.
