    Ireland...will the budget be passed

It's like to go through... A bunch of independents have said that they will vote for it, so the odds for it passing are good.

    Most disingenuous Fed Chairman?

    1) Firstly, what data might that be? 'Cause I think you're mistaken in your simplistic interpretation of the relationship. For example, what are we to make of the particularly "predictive" 2008 period of high commodity prices? Secondly, TIPS have been arnd since 1997. How much more data do...

    Most disingenuous Fed Chairman?

How do you know that the people buying gold, cotton and wheat now aren't the same idiots that were buying subprime CDOs at par in 2006 and oil at $140/bbl in 2008? What you're suggesting is that current prices of commodities are reflecting some profound truth about inflation (or, at the very...

    Most disingenuous Fed Chairman?

    +1 This is correct.

    Ireland 'likely' to leave Euro

The black hole that took HRE down was an originally Irish entity called DEPFA, which operated roughly along the lines you described.

    Ever heard of Hypo Re/DEPFA?

FED can't even print money right

Of course he wouldn't answer. Why would you expect a central banker to answer a question on fiscal policy?

    Masters in Financial Engineering

I can only speak about the UK schools... Most of them OK, but I would put Oxford and Imperial at the top of the list, rather than Cass and Warwick.

    Question from a Newbie?

I am pretty sure that trsy and index futures are a lot more liquid than the little EURUSD one. Eurodollars are even more liquid, I would imagine.

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

Hell, yeah, CBs do take losses... What was that H1 number from the SNB? Smth like Sfr 14bn, which is pretty chunky for a small country like Switzerland. On the Fed, there's other tools available to them, if need be. They have been tentatively experimenting with reverse repos tgt...

    Euro bonds, it's coming?

It's not coming... The Germans don't want rampant free-riding and they think they're gonna get it with these Eurobonds.

    Ireland 'likely' to leave Euro

He means he's going to buy the EFSF bonds. In the event of a default, EFSF is supposedly more senior than other creditors, so he thinks he's more likely to get his money back.

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

I don't know, I ain't a Fed guv'nor. It's a tough spot they're in. Personally, I wouldn't think rising commodity prices and money supply are by themselves necessarily inflationary. We'll just have to wait and see, I guess.

    Question about unemployment RATE

BLS also publishes the U6, as well as other numbers, so there's no conspiracy. You just need to seek and ye shall find. As to how this is calculated in other economies, the methodology is pretty much the same.

Anybody else short US 30 Bond

Well, data HAS improved, arguably, so I think Uncle Ben is probably a bit relieved.

Ottmar Issing:Germany is right: bondholders must pay

Not that I necessarily disagree with Issing, but isn't he officially employed by Goldman as a consultant these days? Should he be expressing opinions, given Goldman is a mkt participant?

    10yr Irish yields at 9.49 %,Spanish at 5.70%,Portuguese at 7.33 %,US at lousy 2.79%

9.231% is the current yield; -3.52% is probably the change in yield (although could be the change in price).

Who are the idiots buying bonds for 1% interest?

tj, honestly, will you ever stop? You're making yourself looking increasingly more stupid... Please, I beg you, stop this nonsense and try to use your head. Would you like me to explain to you what's so silly about your ongoing rants?

U.S. To Bail Out EU !!!!

You might want to hold back the full force of your righteous fury for now, as this isn't happening. The US official in question was largely mis-quoted (or their comments misunderstood).
