I certainly understand the primary rational for fading the trend in the ES is to catch the LOD or HOD, and thus the starting point of a new intra-day trend. Doing so with a very tight stop is additional incentive. It's an alluring game and very satisfying to the ego when your entry at the exact...

thankfully everything works together for the overall good: winners need the fader's stop loss orders to sustain the primary trend, and the nimble faders make or lose their 3 or 4 ticks all along the way  using vol's "rule of 10" paradigm: faders wait for the rule of 10 then enter...

amen The RSI grails B1S2 uses are basic enough and work reasonably well as B1S2 has amply proven in this journal. Add in a little common sense on the risk control side and you should be all set.

Strategies come and go but human nature never changes... Value area is now clearly established, next comes the real volume as price is moved to a new level....

wave - excellent early read & call today ! ...the setup leading into the afternoon reversal was basic textbook....wear out the latecomers all session then precipitate a scramble for cover at the close. ...anyways, it will be interesting to see if buyers can extend this in a meaningful way...

I have also invested considerable time pondering this same dichotomy... I think it has to do with what the trader is looking at (indicators) or anticipating will happen (trading style). I think it safe to say, of those posting regularly in this journal, B1S2 is the only one trading with the...

imho, holding a position trade has very little to do with being "very skilled" ...it just takes some courage to get started and a little getting used to (experience doing it). Get past the natural reactive fear of holding a position open when the market starts moving around after you are in...

Thanks fearless, it means a lot to me ! I respect what your saying and am learning from your contributions ! I would like to say I am not for or against any reasonably sound method. There are plenty of ways to earn a living at this game. I know a few traders that trade off well know price...

... I think the change in position sizing has something to do with margin requirements and blowing out your underfunded account fighting the trend....opps sorry.... fading the price move through the next magic pivot point.

Playing pivot point pitch and catch in the middle of a busy street during rush hour...umm not my idea of a fun way to start the day. but hey, as was pointed out 10 or so pages back, the ES does not trend intra-day...trade off "key" price levels ...remember ?

Based on my understanding of the basic method B1S2 is employing, the primary trend as B1S2 defines it is found on the weekly time frame. Elder's triple screen method is actually very close to what B1S2 is doing. Elder has written several books covering the method in more detail if your so...

Excellent advice ! ... shame only one in ten reading it will be able to actually follow this simple plan.... I like your use of the word "tempting", it really is the perfect word to describe how the market loves to trick us into trying to fade the primary trend... Fighting the trend never...

wave - I for one am enjoying your posts, a lot of fundamental simple truth in what your saying. One basic premise of my trading is...."human nature never changes" One need look no further than this journal to see a small yet poignant illustration of this basic axiom proven every day. A few...
