    ES Journal - 2019/2020

For those who are new to ES - this was a typical day in a not too distant past. Just directionless and range bound movement on a very tight range. Not the easiest market to trade.

It seems like there's a general consensus that the election will produce huge volatility and even a sell-off. Particularly on a Biden win. What if it won't?

Yeah. Weakness in NQ is disconcerting, but my model gives low chances of a new low here, so going to play the odds. I added to my long position and have a stop below 3415. Offering 3440 to exit. Not going to be greedy today.

If we have a top on the day we should be very close. If not - 3445/50. But deep pullbacks is the name of the game lately, so staying in long mode above 3420 or so. Any bears left in the building?

IHS in place for those that care about that. Will probably add to my long if we get legs here.

I'm long 1 contract actually. Might take a loss on this one. My model suggests about 65 % odds we will hold above 3417 today. So, will probably hold my stop below that area or take a quick exit if I can. As long as NQ finds a bottom in this area - I think it looks good. But we're in a...

Stopped B/E on that short. It's tricky from here as we might pull back to 3420 before heading higher. Currently flat.

Stop @ B/E on the short. Won't have time to post the exit, but hoping for 3420/3417.

Let's see if we can get a little dump on the Open. But I'm thinking possibly 3450 today?

I dislike these strong gaps from a day trading perspective. Hard to go long right now, too. Holding above 3417/21 on the Open should be good for a decent long trade intraday. I just shorted 28 with a 3.5 point stop anticipating a pullback into and during the Open, but am long biased, so will...

    Coffee and Trading....

I start trading US markets about 3 PM local time. By then I usually had a quarter of a gallon coffee already. :) There was an article on the negative consequences of caffeine. There are positives too, of course, but you definitely can overdo it. I'm too fond of coffee to let it go.

    Which Prop CME Futures Firm?

Very intriguing. Are you swing trading or day trading? How about liquidity? Can you get in and out when you want? Interesting stuff. Thanks. I swing traded stocks and made quite decent returns doing so, but was 'stupid' enough to get into day trading futures. LOL. After many years of hard...

It's quite possible tomorrow will be the real test, i.e., failure to thrust above 3400 once more will trigger a sell which will have continuation to the down this time. I'm just reading the market wherever it is and trade accordingly. So, a gap up tomorrow should be good for a buy for the first...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I did a quick check for you though. A gap up open tomorrow gives a high probability (70 %) of another up day / green close, but, there's a slight chance we can roll over within the first 5 minutes. So, be cautious. A gap down tomorrow should be bearish on the day. Just a quick check. I...

There is no good or bad. Just price movement up and down. :) As for the Inside Day - just sharing that observation at this point. I generally only use RTH data. :)

Today was the first Inside Day (RTH) in 37 (trading) days.

This was my initial expectation for today shortly after yesterday's Close. Does + 1,72 % qualify as a decent up day? :)

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Agreed. At least for a short term trader. It's How which matters. The Why is just the general backdrop which entagles the financial media and mostly everyone else after the fact. By the time the Why is known it's often too late to act and then it doesn't matter anyway. In my humble opinion...

3400 touch in play. Let's see if we get even more on the day. With FOMC coming up - may range here for a bit.

Just like the markets can be predicted - so can human beings. :) FWIW - I agree with you, B1S2. Not on the healthy bull market and much higher prices part, but yesterday was an overreaction. If it were not, I think we would have seen more continuation to the down overnight. So far, that has...
