Rundown on Al Brook's Trading Room

Is there a particular reason your secret sauce method is trading a few MES and not multiple contracts of ES? One would think that if a method really was a secret sauce - one would rapidly be able to scale up and compound on it. But maybe there's other reasons for that not happening. So, just...

Best ways to use Elitetrader Forum

You seem to put a lot of thought into it. I just scroll mindlessly. :) ET these days for me is more like water cooler talk and getting a heads up on certain things. There's a lot of gold buried in the archives, though. I've gotten the best value out of ET by actually not logging in for weeks...

Rundown on Al Brook's Trading Room

Exactly. That's the only way you can build the trust, skill and knowledge needed to efficiently execute successfully in a live market. Mentors, educators and trading rooms can of course be valuable at a certain point in time for someone starting out and act as inspiration for further research...

Rundown on Al Brook's Trading Room

https://lindaraschke.net/about/ I really liked her interview in Market Wizards. No desire to be part of her trading room though, but that's because I have my own system and would never trade off anyone else's view or opinion.

    Quants Are Losing Their Minds...

Thanks. I made it in Excel. So was Monday's Open. I don't track the ES-NQ spread, but I ran some additional numbers on the dataset I posted. It seems like Monday's Open was about 5 standard deviations from the mean. Note: This data isn't quite normally distributed, though. Too many fat tails.

    Quants Are Losing Their Minds...

Monday opened up + 3,96 % or 138,75 points on ES. That's a fairly big gap. However, since 2005, we've had 4 opening gaps which have been greater than that. 2 of them occurred this year. The last one on the 24th of March (+ 5,86 % on the Open). Maybe the quants need to re-write their models...

    Quants Are Losing Their Minds...

Definitely been some fat tails and n = 1 type of days this year.

ES - Trying to tame the beast

In your quote, you either intentionally or unintentionally neglected this part of his post: Problem is your human eyes sees what your mind wants and ignores the rest. Generally, a method which relies on interpretation, feelings, memory, etc., is flawed. Particularly when trading in a live and...

Sierrachart or Ninja for day trading stocks?

Wow. They didn’t hold back on that one. Had me a good laugh reading that. :)

FIFO rule kills futures traders profits!

If you hold overnight it can get really messy. I've woken up to "losses" a few times which were 'green' before bed time. I'm not sure how fast your 'scalps' are and how many positions you use, but you could easily set up a spreadsheet in Excel which does your accounting manually. If it's too...

Rundown on Al Brook's Trading Room

The purpose of a live trading room should be to add some meaningful real time commentary. If the debriefing after market close is vastly different from the real time commentary it illustrates that the methodology possibly is flawed and inaccurate for live trading.

Rundown on Al Brook's Trading Room

I was not aware she had one. Might be one of few educators who actually trade (succesfully).

Minor issues with how to accurately track daily trade performance. Commercial solutions?

Thanks, Fonz. And thank you for those pictures. :) I'll see what I do about this. MFE/MAE are interesting statistics, too, but the raw data from Ninja is useless to me. Why? Because if I have a 5 contract trade and the market goes against me by 5 points - the MFE = 5 x 5 = 25 points...

Using Ninjatrader with Optimus / Trade futures 4 less -- rithmic

I have not. I'm mostly satisfied with Ninjatrader Brokerage, but I do think it's a pity they closed down their platform for other brokers.

Using Ninjatrader with Optimus / Trade futures 4 less -- rithmic

I'm in the same situation. I'm happy with NT8, but I'm sure there are better alternatives. But as I know Ninja very well and have many custom indicators developed for it, I'm not interested in changing at the moment. As far as I know - your only alternative if you want to trade futures with...

Minor issues with how to accurately track daily trade performance. Commercial solutions?

Thanks. May I ask how it adresses the two main issues mentioned? Does it aggregate trades that are splitted? Would you mind posting a screenshot of a daily summary? Feel free to PM me also if you don’t want to post in public. Thanks.

Minor issues with how to accurately track daily trade performance. Commercial solutions?

Hi all, I'm repeating a post which probably got lost in another thread. I day trade the e-mini S&P 500 using Ninjatrader 8 and Ninjatrader Brokerage (Dorman Trading). I track my trade performance through Ninjatrader's trade performance report, but I'm not entirely satisfied with that one, so...

The stock markets in the Biden era - will volatility diminish?

Surely not only towards women? I've been partially positive towards Trump, but lately it's just been too much. His behavior post-election just proves his critics right. If he just had a tiny bit more class, elegance and intelligence, he could have been great. Then again, those traits may not...

The stock markets in the Biden era - will volatility diminish?

Yes - I did mention that in the very post you quoted. :) As for the pandemic, I'm sure Trump could have done better to alleviate that situation, but let's not get political here. And even without the pandemic - Trump's era have been volatile and also characterized with his tweets that usually...
