Department of Labor proposals regarding who is considered a fiduciary

I am starting to understand why only property owners were allowed to vote back in the day. Maybe what we need is to require that someone have at least $10k or $50k liquid to be allowed to vote. That shows they at least have an ok job and the economic sense to save something. Also filter out...

    IWM setup 5/7/11

Don't lose sight of the fundamentals. I sell put spreads on rut a lot for consistent monthly profits. I have a pretty good feel for it. I chose not to sell June puts this round when my May's expired because we are now totally far and away from the fundamentals. If there is even a...

what kind of life would you prefer?

I wouldn't even tell my friends and family. I wouldn't want them to try to borrow money or mooch or guilt trip me in some way. Many of my friends are democrat types who don't have a clue about money. Other than my Lexus, they have no idea my net worth grows faster than their paycheck. They...

Department of Labor proposals regarding who is considered a fiduciary

Jesus fuck. When will these guys just die or something? They are actively trying to destroy capitalism. At this point, I think the world would honestly be better off with 0 governments. I mean what do they really do on balance? Take half your money and give half of that to...

    My journal.. new to forum

Oh, I made this graphic to illustrate to some friends what I was doing on RUT. Arrow points to the day that I sold the spread. Length of the green line more or less bottoms at the top strike of the spread. The % is the yield for that month. Transactions on the right that you will recognize...

    My journal.. new to forum

I mostly do options. In particular, credit spreads, diagonal spreads, condors, and the occasional covered call. On rare occasion I go long deep in the money calls on stocks I am bullish about long term when it provides virtually free leverage. I don't day trade. So far this year I peaked...

Engineer looking to make a career change into trading (PART II)

Do what I do. Save as much money as you can. Put it all in the market. Trade when you can at work. Also, look at setting up trades that can last at least a few days or weeks at a time so it doesn't interfere with your work. I basically have my start page set to finance.google.com and...

    Margin debt by month

Any of you watch this? http://www.nyxdata.com/nysedata/asp/factbook/viewer_edition.asp?mode=tables&key=50&category=8 Shows margin debt by month going back a long time. Worth graphing against the market. In the most recent crash, it was preceded by a reduction of margin debt. Margin debt...

    Poll: Sell in May 2011?

I just don't see it getting to 1500 any time soon. Maybe if the Fed comes out with QE3 but I think that is not likely given the PPI numbers. Any more printing is going to hurt profit margins more than it helps. I think we just need a breather before we can keep going up. We need real earnings.

    Poll: Sell in May 2011?

I think we are headed for a painful decline. This is why I went to cash in April. There are very few bargains to buy. Bond yields too low. Earnings yields too low. My charts went bearish about 2 weeks ago. I don't know when the turning point will be.

Those are impressive, but my goals are reliable and consistent profits. Right now on my credit spreads I have been going for 3-8%. When I do a diagonal call, I look for a ~5-10% monthly yield on the short call with room for 10-15% capital gains on the long call. I have to travel a lot for...

    Why join a Prop Firm/JBO?

My interest in a PM account is to reduce my target yield per month while increasing my probability of success. I would rather sell credit spreads at 1% yield with dramatically higher probability of success than at 5% yield which much lower probability of success. If you are just doing...

    New to forum

Hi. New to the forum. Been beating the S&P500 since 2006 (when I had any money to work with). Currently working ~98k. $48k in my options account. Most recent string of trades: I am a project manager at a software company by day, options trader (spread seller) by day when boss not...
