This is called a flattener... Do it by selling TU vs buying TY, DV01-weighted.

    any index arbitrageurs here??

That is NOT an arb and defining it as such is ignorant.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Yes, I know, but I don't want to talk about Krugman. Hence I suggested that we can discuss the govt participation subject in another thread.

The repos are just replacing the SFP bills, so I wouldn't get too excited just yet.

The dream isn't supposed to come easily. The people who survive are the ones who treat it as a full-time job, rather than a "get rich quick" scheme.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Well, so what? There are other people advocating it, as well as people advocating the opposite. It doesn't mean that any of these people are necessarily right. It's a matter of principle for me to argue a particular view based purely on its own merits, rather than on the merits of famous...

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Well, I just mean to say that that's an argument that doesn't have anything to do with Krugman and the original subject of this thread (I have nothing to say on the whole "right/left" topic). Maybe we should start another one and discuss it there.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Well, there again you're engaging in wordplay. It doesn't matter what you call it, relevance, practical value, usability, whatever. What matters, again is the end result. As to your point about the government involvement, this is neither the time nor the place to argue about that, I think.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Well, so be it, we're gonna have to disagree about our respective definitions... I find that mine has a lot more practical value.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Huh? You're arguing semantics here... It doesn't matter what you call it. I use the term "laissez faire" to denote a system in which regulations are not enforced. Whether that occurs because of poor enforcement or because there are no regulations in the first place is utterly immaterial...

What If You Could Have Predicted the Yen’s New Record? The SSI Saw It Coming.

I find this: "The SSI Saw It Coming" difficult to reconcile with this: "[SSI is] a real trading book showing what other traders are doing at present" How can one see what's coming with an indicator of current sentiment?

Well, nasty hurtful stories is one thing... "Testicle shrinkage" is in a league of its own.

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

Your point re Norway is incorrect. The published statistics all refer to what they call the "mainland" economy, i.e. without taking oil revenues into account. Same applies to their budget deficits and policies that govern the said deficits. Norway looks good with or without oil. As to...

Once again, a Krugman kick to the right's sac

That's weird... Scandinavian countries (e.g. Sweden and Norway), arguably the most socialist societies on the planet, are doing just fine. In fact, a lot better than most of the West. So it clearly can't be that simple...
