British Figure Out Gift Giving Tactic With Obama

I am super curious... What "priceless treasures from Briton" have the British given Obama? As a British taxpayer, I would very much like to know.

Why is the T-note yield curve messed up?

Huh? 112 is actually pretty steep... Highest it's been is smth like 160, lowest arnd 0, mean 50, median 42 (using data from 1993 onwards).

Long-term US governt interest rates and Chinese currency intervention

Not sure if "funny" is the word that I would use, but yes, that's roughly what's going on. To be sure, China buys a lot of US mtge paper as well, not just treasuries. Well, there's a lot of ways to understand what's in it for China and there's a LOT of research and discussion on the subject...

British Government swiping pensions to cut deficit.

The UK govt isn't swiping pensions... It's just engaging in a bit of creative accounting, but who isn't these days?

    Are girls better traders?

Yes, there's ample research on the subject. See "Boys Will Be Boys" by Barber & Odean for a most famous example.

I am taking a piss, sire... In a very gentle and non-offensive way, I hope.

In 2013, the overwhelming majority of regional presidents will be doves, with the possible exception of Esther George of KC (about whom I know very little). As you point out, the guvnors are known doves. This makes a hike in 2013 less likely, IMHO. On the other hand, Ian Shepherdson, who is...

100 year bonds - would any of you buy them

I like it all, as long as it's good and inexpensive... But red is the really good stuff.

Petrus!? I don't even know what that sh1t looks like... I do like my wine, but I like to find value there too.

Well, I dunno quite what to say... Excuse me while I go slit my wrists. Talk amongst yourselves, I may be some time.

100 year bonds - would any of you buy them

Your opinion is duly noted. However, there's clearly quite a few people out there who love these things (if I had to guess, they're in it for the convexity). I'd prefer gallons (preferably of Patron). If that makes me a pussy, so be it.

I have been long NOKJPY from 13.07 with a 15.27 tgt. Moved my stop to 14.37 earlier today and it got hit :(. Still, a profit is a profit (and this one is relatively hefty as far as my PA trades go, especially if you factor in the positive carry), so mustn't grumble. It means that I now need...

Long-term US governt interest rates and Chinese currency intervention

China accumulates a large amount of dollars (as well as other ccies), due to its trade surplus with the US (and other countries). It needs to invest these surpluses and the UST mkt is where they do it (for a variety of reasons).

Well, the Mexican 100yr bonds went sold like hot cakes, so why not century gilts?
