    Contrarian/ Buying the lows

Contrarian strategies are better when you do not get in all at once. You will never just pick the bottom or top on day 1. You should also not go all in with your entire account as these will all be corrected to the QQQ on your list. Hedging is up to you. That would make more sense if you picked...

    margin spx vs ES

Well, I did, but maybe I was not clear. What your broker offers you is a combination of margin and risk limits. As a retail trader with a retail platform, it is hard to tell the difference. The OCC governs SPX margin and shocks an SPX portfolio -8%/+6% in a PMA which is a risk based margin...

    margin spx vs ES

FSU-OCC TIMS margin and CME SPAN are similar. Your down 15% is a risk control from your broker/clearing firm. Risk controls at every FCM will vary. As an example, INTL FC Stone shocks +/-10%, +/- 20 VOL points. We just do not allow aggressive option selling in futures.

    margin spx vs ES

You have to qualify. I'm not sure based on your questions that you are ready for PM and SPX options.

    margin spx vs ES

You must have a Reg-T account which is not risk-based while futures margin is. Portfolio margin and futures are more similar. Both risk based.

IB have the ability to show you underlying's forecasted price without your personal sentiments?

An implied vol of about .16 refers to an expected Daily move of about 1%. That is not the same as a “forecasted price.”

New to day trading, change of career - best tools?

I know nothing of this service so this is a general statement. I'm a little suspect of a day trading service that shows live trades if they are scalping for small profits. Even a liquid stock like Apple or a liquid future like ES, can be moved by 2000 to 3000 followers all jumping in 10 seconds...

I am legit scared of the future

You're blaming student loans and I blame not-for-profit universities that provide free tuition to some and charge others $50K while their endowment grows. Why is a college book $250? Why can a professor make copies of a paper and charge $100 for 100 pages? None of this should be allowed if they...

Hi we5inelgr, I agree with destriero, $25,000 is too close the PDT rule. I'd suggest more like $35,000 but don't play bigger, just because there is more money in the account. I also suggest you consider a trading platform built for a day trader like Lightspeed Trader. Check out our website-hot...

What's the cheapest R/T for Micro ES and NQ

IMO, I will never be right exactly when I enter a trade. My first trade will never be the best price. I prefer to get in at 25% right away, so I do not miss it. Then either scale down or buy over time. Buying over time works better for me, up or down. I'm a position trader, not a scalper.

    is this trade profitable?

You short $100,000 worth of QQQ. Stock you do not own. The buyer pays your broker for that stock. Your broker has to go out and borrow the stock to make delivery. That cash is not yours, as you did not deliver the stock. Your broker needs that for collateral. Your clearing broker can use a...

What's the cheapest R/T for Micro ES and NQ

I’m not familiar with tax laws in your country. In the United States there is an advantage to trading futures over ETFs. There is also higher leverage than Reg-t margin and no PDT rule. You just have to roll from time to time which is not hard and can be done with a spread. Is less you hope...

What's the cheapest R/T for Micro ES and NQ

We had one request from a current account. Maybe because our min account size for CQG is $10k and Realtick is $25k, it does not attract customers interested in the micros which is targeting more accounts under $5000. I do think for a swing trade, they are better than SPY.

What's the cheapest R/T for Micro ES and NQ

I’m not following your question. Micro ES is priced off the ES ES is priced off the big SP Big SP is priced off the basket of stocks in the 500. As the ES has the best price Discovery, everybody can see bids/offers, most people just watch that unless they have a process for watching the basket.

    is this trade profitable?

No, you may not use the credit balance from options or stock to invest in anything, it is not yours to use as it is collateral for the short trade. The short will increase your equity balance but not your liquidating equity, which is yours to use.

What's the cheapest R/T for Micro ES and NQ

When you scale in (I don't call those "losers") what is your max position size on these that you will add to? If your MAX position size says 15, and you stop out, do you sell all 15 at once or scale out too?
