    NCC any thoughts

I wouldn't touch that with a 10ft pole. Stock down 27% today. Chart looks ugly, couldn't look any worse. Be careful.

    German view of Bernanke

Things are never as easy as finding one simple reason of "cause and effect". The rise of Nazism in Germany was a powerful confluence of 1. Versailles 2. post Great Depression poverty and unemployment 3. widely prevalent anti-semitism 4. a fragile Weimar democracy 5. German capital...

"Overleveraged into GOOG/BIDU/RIMM/AAPL/MELI" Just wondering, what's the difference between 'Leveraged' and 'Overleveraged'?

The New Economy and the Next Leg Up

RIMM, GOOG, BIDU are all technically broken charts. I may be wrong but they probably will not be leaders in a new bull market. I'd look for stocks that are close to/at new highs right now or at least ready to break out to new highs out of solid technical bases and patters. A few ideas from...

So Laslo Birinyi just called the bottom on CNBC...

Yes, imagine 100,000 Wall Streeters being laid off compared to a total workforce of 146 million. It will drive the rest of the economy into the steepest recession since 1931, just like it did in 1991, 1998 and 2002!!!

Horrible recession: Why are steel stocks breaking out?

Exactly Frank, the point that I was trying to make was that steel stock charts 'painted a different picture' of the (world) economy than bonds and paranoid financial media articles did, at least at the time when I started this thread. I think the CAT, HON, UTX earnings and calls this week went...

So Laslo Birinyi just called the bottom on CNBC...

July 29, 2002: ""The big problem is the extreme level of debt," Schiff says, envisioning a gloomy scenario that includes personal bankruptcies and pension funds destroyed. He predicts the Dow Jones Industrial Average will plunge to 5,000." Landis is right. Schiff was wrong. A perma bear is...

Credit Card debt is next......$951.7 Billion worth....

2% is still 2%, not 20%. For the consumer to go under you'll have to pray that unemployment will skyrocket to 8, 9, 10%. I have no idea if it will, but if it does then that's what puts big strain on the consumer and debt markets, not your ridiculous mere existence $1 trillion of credit card...

Credit Card debt is next......$951.7 Billion worth....

You just throw a number in here without knowing anything about the RELATIONS of credit card liabilities to net assets. Nice macro analysis there buddy.

Credit Card debt is next......$951.7 Billion worth....

Credit card debt might be $1 trillion. That sounds a lot. The aggegate networth of US consumers is something in the region of $55 trillion though. Their credit card debt is 2% of their assets. Big deal.

So Laslo Birinyi just called the bottom on CNBC...

Like all other perma bears. He predicted the Dow will have to fall to 5000 in 2002 to reach "fair valuation": http://www.csmonitor.com/2002/0729/p01s02-usec.htm July 29, 2002: ""The big problem is the extreme level of debt," Schiff says, envisioning a gloomy scenario that includes personal...
