    What's wrong with short selling??

Its against the law to create money out of thin air and thats what short selling is doing. If I buy a stock and its sold to me by a short seller, I dont really have that stock yet even though my broker says I do. I mean..on paper i own the stock, but it wasnt issued by the company. If the...

    quick social security question

It means you will receive $102 in 2010 dollars when you are 99. That number is likely to go up though in later years(unless the economy collapses then it will go down)

    What's wrong with short selling??

There is a bit of a difference though. If magazine goes out of business, they owe their customers their subscription fees back because they never delievered. If you have a stock that goes to zero, the short sellers never have to buy that stock back. They basically never deliver on what...

Panera Bread not charging for anything in the store(pay what you want)

Even if people pay, you still have to watch out for the employees who are only making part time min wage. Wont be long before one of the employees pockets $1,000 bucks from the register and says "Sorry boss, nobody paid for their lunch today"

Where's the inflation? US CPI unexpectedly drops 0.1%

Because anyone that does anything to combat inflation will be hated. Politicians do not want to be hated. Also, if you owed more money than anyone in the history of the world, and you knew there was no way to pay it back except maybe with inflation, what would you do? Thats why nobody will...

    Is Goldman laughing at us?

In april GS lowered its forcast for gold and in a month gold hit a record high. On May 10, they raised their forcast for gold and gold is dropping like mad now. Its pretty obvious GS raises and lowers forcasts just so they can buy and sell into it.

What would you like to see in Financial Reform?

It reminds me of that story in wiemer republic where someone had a wheelbarrow full of money to go buy bread. He went inside the store and someone dumped the money on the ground and ran off with the wheelbarrow.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/37213165/ns/business-consumer_news Panera, in my opinion, has the best soups in the world (especially the broccoli chedder) I always thought the prices were a little higher than they should be. I imagine this restaurant will be packed with freeloaders.

Risk of EU introducing capital controls?

Some of us are just begging for them to try to reprice gold. I would mortgage my house to the hilt, sell all my assets and use all the money to just buy that new cheaply priced gold.

What would you like to see in Financial Reform?

If there were no anti-money laundering regulation, its very likely that money obtained from illegal gambling or drug deals would possibly go into the stock market or some other legitimate business. But instead, some drug dealer has to sit on millions of dollars of 100 dollar bills waiting to...

What would you like to see in Financial Reform?

Its not always about your fico score. The banks use these credit agencys called telecheck & chexsystems to find out if they have any banking related negative items. For instance...telecheck will report you if you write a bunch of bad checks which is something that doesnt go on your credit...

Reuters: Germany to ban shortselling, tonight

I used to short sell electronics on ebay. I would sell the item and THEN order it from my distributor who then proceeded to dropship it. :) Backfired on me once though. I sold about 15 camera watches once and my distributor took 2 months to deliver(while constantly telling me that it...
