Add one more @ 70,25. Average is 69,25. Will probably scale out of that last one a bit above 80 and stop out the rest at 90. Rationale: It's hard to imagine we put in a Low already and won't at least visit last week's low @ 3225 considering what's going on right now. The uncertainty is if...

Nice to wake up and see I'm still in the the game. Added one @ 70,75 for an average of 69. Will probably stop out the whole position at 85-90 and re-evaluate. I think we have a swing high here @ 80 and that we'll see another push down here. 3200 or lower is my target.

On the subjects of extended trading hour gaps, @QTrader20 . Notice that we gapped down last Sunday and didn't close that gap last week. We now have another gap down open this Sunday which failed to fill on the initial thrust higher off the Open.

Resisted to short the Open and trailed a sell stop behind price on that initial pop. Filled @ 3267. Will put my stop @ 3303 and hit the sack. Small size, so only beer money. Let's see if we can take out 3200 by end of tomorrow.

So - what's your playbook for the week ahead? If we don't open strongly down in 33 minutes - I think I'll take my chances on a light short as I like the R/R. My bet is we'll see more downside going into the election. Maybe 3200/3180. I'll be ready to reverse long, though, as I think it's...

    Next Steps?

I'd say only quit your job if: 1. Getting your job back or a new one isn't a big deal. 2. Your current job is a hindrance and you'd be able to make more money without full-time employment. Nicholas Darvas was really succesful with trading as a part-time gig and had terrible results once he...

Damn. That was fast. I still think 50 or more is in play though. But it may be a rocky road.

Took small loss on the 80 short and re-entered at a higher level. 55 to exit or 3200 if hell breaks loose. Risk-free ride from here.

Last trading day of the month today. Who will want to hold long into this weekend...? We may see strong counter rallies, but the trend remains down. I'm anticipating a break of 50 in RTH and will probably short an initial rally to 3300 if it happens. Currently short from 80. One may argue...

Theoretically, shouldn't any indicator-based or relatively simplistic strategy have no edge at all?

But most programmers lack market knowledge and an understanding of how markets work. This is not easily acquired and it can't be solved by brute force. To once again use the carpentry analogue. If you want to efficiently and rationally build a house - you don't show up with a hammer and insist...

Theoretically, shouldn't any indicator-based or relatively simplistic strategy have no edge at all?

There’s a reason why programmers generally fail in trading. Programming is just a tool like a hammer. A hammer doesn’t make you a great carpenter.

My expectation for today is that we'll see a test of 3260,75 - which may provide support or not. I think there's a good chance we'll see a sustained sell below that, i.e., as low as 3200, as this market is currently weak as hell. I do not think we'll trade above 3225 today. Surprise me. :)

Market tanked and Trump tanked on electionbettingodds

Anyone care to perform some TA on this chart? Looks like a double top / lower high for Biden and a double bottom / higher low for Trump. ;)

It's rare for the market to open this weak and have that weakness continue all the way into the close. We're at n < 10. Generally, odds favour a green close tomorrow, but with such a limited sample size and a very 'interesting week' - I'd say anything's on the table for tomorrow. Momentum to...

I closed down my charts early, but from checking my cell phone it seems like the 'market makers' took a breather for a while and that we dropped about 45 points instead. :) To be honest - I'm skeptical if there's any edge/precision to be found in speculating about how a...

Yeah. I have in the past been strongly bullish on some larger gaps down, but today is not one of them. Just closed down my chart for today after a profitable 30 minutes. I think 3300/3387 is a bounce zone, but it's definitely not a certainty. We have had far greater down days than this...

I'm still short, but cautious of buyers stepping in. Just don't see it yet. I'm thinking 3300/3290 before I'll be salivating on a long. :)
