Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

It's possible to be 'wrong' and still make money. But obviously, for that to happen, you can't risk too much. :) If you risk too much, it's just a matter of time before you lose all your chips.

Are you sure about that? Remember, there are no experts in the trading game. :)

    ES Journal - 2021/2022

It's possible the pullback or next leg down is postponed to August or the end of July. At least if historical tendencies / seasonality actually matters. :) The last 3 months of July have been mostly bullish. Of course there's the odd down day here and there, but seems like buy the dip may work...

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

It's not just you... I prefer to add to a winner instead, i.e., adding more units as price moves in my favour. But I can average in as well if I have an expectation of price bottoming out or topping out within a zone of say 5-15 points on ES and I'm a tad too early on my first entry (which...

And what point do you think he was trying to prove then? :) Note that I didn't explicitly state it, although it does seem clear to me.

If You Can't Make Money On a Simulator

You’ve been making risk free free money for 10 years now. The real account should be worth a billion by now. :)

FOMC now says it will monitor employment.

Bad news is good news as it means more stimulus. And good news is good news. :)

    Midnight rally

Better to just buy and hold, then, if you're not utilizing day trading margins. Plenty of the day session lately have closed higher.

Why Is The Obvious Not So Obvious?

So, the students are puzzled... :) One common theme throughout this thread, and one I agree with, is that you absolutely have to think for yourself and not trust what anyone else says unless you can verify it for yourself. This is particularly true about authority figures - including the...

    Day Trading to Multimillionairedom

Check out Nav Sarao who made $40 million day trading e-mini S&P 500 futures from his bedroom at his parents house. https://www.bbc.com/news/explainers-51265169 There's also the Japanese trader CIS...

    Because only ES?

A couple of ticks of edge? You seem to assume that every major player participating in liquid index futures knows what they're doing. They don't. I know firsthand a smaller fund which operates in index futures trading some size which really have no clue what they're doing (and yes - this fund...

    Because only ES?

Summer doldrum is here and the ranges are narrowing - but still some loose change around to pick up if you know how ES moves, typically. :)

    Because only ES?

I can only assume that 'retail gambling' was what the OP had in mind. Examples? I'm seriously interested in adding new markets to my portfolio. ES generally isn't a breakout market. You say that like it's a bad thing. What does a directional day trader / retail gambler need? 1...

Narrow range still. No surprise there. As long as the LOD holds - would assume we grind higher to 4310/15 by the Close. Yeah.

180 points without a significant retrace. Interestingly - today have a very bullish bias too. That is - we should close in the green, i.e., above 85. I'm a bit cautious here to the long side, though. Probably not the time to press a long, although we may have a good 20-30 points to go still.

    Because only ES?

I won't argue against this, but assuming directional (day) trading are you then saying these instruments have cleaner moves and more direction? Not sure what you mean by perfect. If it was perfectly efficient I would assume there wouldn't be trends or significant moves on a daily basis, i.e...

    Because only ES?

Interesting. Any idea why you 'suck' at ES, but not at CL? What would you say are the main differences between the two? I dabbled in CL for a few months years back now, but I never got a good grasp of, so went back to ES. I feel ES is more respective of levels and in a way more technical and...

    ES Journal - 2021/2022

There's a typo above. It should say 4290. S&P printed 4300 today. Time to start 'worrying' for a move lower of some size now. Let's see...
