    I use http://www.http-tunnel.com HTTP Tunnel in order to use IB's TWS through a corporate firewall. Not 100% perfect but I really like it and you can't beat it for $5 a month.

    Stay out of the registry unless you know what you are doing. Did you try rebooting and can you go into "My Computer" and change the address bar where it says "My Computer" to http://www.whatever.com?
