    TOS/TD Qs regarding day trading

CQG is often referred to as the industry standard. They are excellent and have 24 hour worldwide support in many languages. I would not say they are the best as I never tag any software as "best." Best is what meet your needs. I would say in my experiance that platforms dedicated to one asset...

Statistics: why the stock market is the easiest market to trade

I would say an oversimplification and not relevant to active traders but maybe for long term investors this statement has value.

    TOS/TD Qs regarding day trading

Handle, Thank you for the link. Mr.Sir, TOD/TD is not a day trading platform but more designed for investing. It provides one route which targets a broker which will offer liquidity. These broker routes are not as fast or liquid as using Direct Market Access (DMA). With DMA, you control your...

    Help understanding Credit Call spreads

Stop looking at the midpoint when market are very wide. It is a 1 point spread and the stock closed at 95.37. Determine what it is worth. If you want to buy it back, bid that. You can only bid between 0 and $1.00. If you are not sure, start at a very low price, like 0.05 and raise the price by 1...

LEAPS is a synthetic rolling calendar?

Leaps are just long dated options. That simple. As there is more risk making assumptions on Interest, Dividends and Volatility going out up to 2 years, with no paper to trade against, the spreads are wider.

straddles... how do they make money?

If the directional move is larger than the net debit of the straddle. I buy the straddle for $5.00 going out 2 months, I need the stock to go up or down more than $5.00. Enough to make up for the times I do this and lose money. You need to have a material expectation that the market is...

spreads, still can't find two answers on these questions..

A number of responses here are inaccurate. Reg-T margin is not risk based. One option can provide an offset to another option but only if your clearing broker pairs them off. They all use some type of option optimizer that pairs off long and short options in a systematic manner. It does not...

spreads, still can't find two answers on these questions..

spreads, still can't find two answers on these questions..

#2. After you trade the spread, you have independent positions that are being shown in your position file. For margin purposes and Risk there is an offset but you do not have to unwind them together.

The post question is what is “your most valuable lesson” not what is your “Secret to making money.”

    Your most valuable lesson

One more general comment. Over and over in threads in ET traders talk about risk management. Reducing losses. Staying in the game. This is all very important except you never should have made the trade in the first place without a strategy and plan with a expectation of profit. IMO, that is #1...

Ouch! 58 years old. Ran a successful trading business for 25 years with no losing years and only a handful of losing months. Been in the business since 1981. Just saying, maybe i’m someone to listen to. Take what works for you, ignore the rest. Bob

    Your most valuable lesson

Only allocate funds toward strategies that make money and avoid those that do not. Size your trades to the size of your account and your risk tolerance. Avoid quick rich strategies that have more hope than edge. Never do a trade to make back money lost. Never do a trade with "house money", all...
