Sure. Many possibillities. Looks like Trump is begging for a stimulus package from his sickbed.

Buy The Close....Sell The Open $$$

Nice! Was this "Buy the Close - Sell the Open" when the market is (closing) above the 20MA? Your SPX_CO graph looks quite similar to the one I posted for 2020. Terrible drawdown.

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

I thought we'd make a push towards 3400 this week and it's very well that would have happened if Trump didn't catch Covid-19. We'll never know. Haven't looked at it in depth yet, but I'd be slightly surprised if we don't make a new leg lower this time around going into the elections. So, I'm...

    What's a worthwhile daily take on the e-mini S&P 500?

Actually, it might not be a bad idea. ET is mostly a waste of time assuming we have other priorities. I have a lot on my plate today and shouldn't really be posting here, but I'm tired after a long week and am procrastinating. As for trading advice, you don't really need to be giving it out...

Buy The Close....Sell The Open $$$

Nice work. What software do you use for your backtest? I suspect you'd get better results on this 'strategy' if some parameter to determine long term trend were used. For example, apply the parameter only when the market is closing above a moving average. Maybe a 20 MA.

One thing I didn't see mentioned which you might consider is to for example analyze WHEN you're losing and WHEN you're winning. Is there a pattern? Are you getting chopped up on the Open while crushing it after the 1st 60 minutes? If so, that could/should mean you should avoid trading the Open...

    ES Journal - 2019/2020

Just because the news and the political situation (which should affect market action) is discussed doesn't mean people actually trade on that information. I certainly don't. Generally, for my day trades, I keep thing technical and aim to capture the better part of 10-20 point swings these days...

    What's a worthwhile daily take on the e-mini S&P 500?

That may be true for you. It's certainly not true for me. And how many points are you extracting per day from the market by 'keeping things simple and ignoring all that stuff'? You have said yourself that you're not a consistently profitable trader, so maybe you should get that in order...

    What's a worthwhile daily take on the e-mini S&P 500?

Do you even read what you respond to? Maybe you should re-read the thread from start to finish. I specifically said: "You can't make more than the market offers on any given day". Where did I say you can't earn more than the daily range?

    What's a worthwhile daily take on the e-mini S&P 500?

Actually, there is. You can't make more than the market offers on any given day. I certainly care about the daily ES range and other key metrics which tracks market moves on a daily basis. The larger the range the better the trading (more profits).

Agreed, @Buy1Sell. Assuming Trump isn't struck very hard and immobilized it can turn out very well for him. Boris Johnson was hit quite hard though. A similar fate for Trump should not turn out positive (for him)... For all we know - the picture I posted may have an element of truth in it.

Care to elaborate? I generally jump in and out anyway. Tough to have a long term view in this market. Too much uncertainty at the moment.

As I (day) trade the e-mini S&P futures I want to know how many points I extract per contract on a daily basis. A $1000 gain on 1 contract is very different from a $1000 gain on 5 contracts. https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/whats-a-worthwhile-daily-take-on-the-e-mini-s-p-500.345679/

Anything other than a very negative open tomorrow should be quite bullish on the day. Quite likely. I think there's a lot of risk in the markets at the moment and nobody should be surprised to see a decent sell lower in October.
