    Market-on-Close (MOC) for Options

+good luck asking your broker how it will be executed. It will either be held on a server and executed at the market within 5 min of the close or held by a MM that will execute it the same way with his friends. Never, ever!

    Market-on-Close (MOC) for Options

NEVER, EVER, EVER use MOC (or MOO) orders for options. You can get very bad fills, they might not wait until the close, but close to it. Exit yourself manually.

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

learningoptiontrading, I do not want to make light of your loss. Many here have suggested better ways to trade earning or sell puts with protection around earnings. I'm going to tell you from someone that has been in the business since 1981 and trade options professionally for 25 years, that...

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

Tomorrow, do not worry about what the longs do. You are short, losing money. If you are still short tomorrow on the open, you can buy it back--or not and take your chances. It's your money,

Repair Strategy for NFLX Short Put

My advice is to learn to take losses and move on. You sold the put expecting good earning. The stock is down about 14%. You were wrong. You will be wrong many times in the future. We all are. If it were me, I would buy back the put at some point in the morning with a limit order and move on to...

    Question about Long Strangle

BTW, Santa was joking. After you buy or sell any spread of any kind, they go into your account as individual option legs. For the purpose of margin, there are no offsets for a long straddle, so there is no margin penalty for taking them off individually. If you have long and short options...

NYSE Opposition to Trading-Fee Review Puts Companies and Some Shareholders at Odds

IMO the problem is the large number of trading ECNs. You would think that would cause a level of competition that would lower exchange fees but I have not seen that. What is even worse are the 15 option markets and the ORF fee. It makes it harder to find liquidity and clients have to pay a fee...

has anyone ever backtested a method and then traded it profitably?

I expected you to follow up that comment with the right procedure. Would you like to add that? Maybe just an outline teaser.

has anyone ever backtested a method and then traded it profitably?

I think backtesting has enormous value if the results are negative. If they are good, they require forward testing, where you have no knowledge of market trends, and then real money testing with small lots.

    Trading Futures

Sorry, I have to disagree. You get enormous leverage with these futures without the financial requirements in equity accounts where Portfolio Margin does not get close with ETFs and equities. Margin of 4% to 5% of the notional value! And, many FCMs and brokers offer more for day trading. We can...
