    What works for you?

Hi Badget01, Welcome to Elite Trader. I think it would be great if members here would respect others opinions and posts. I see that in summary, you trade only SPY, only buy options, expiration 5-10 days, don't care about your delta and use T/A to determine your entry/exit prices. When you...

Advice on creating simultaneous gain and loss

I forgot one. If you expect this is the time to take profits, that would free up you to take other opportunities. What will you miss out on while you hold a positions you no longer want for the next year?

Advice on creating simultaneous gain and loss

This is what you have to ask yourself........... In your portfolio, what symbols have gains? What hedge would be highly correlated but not come under the IRS code for stopping the timing of getting to one year? What is the cost of that hedge? Do you have losses you can use right now to offset...

    Poll: Average Forex account size.

In addition, leverage was higher in 2012 than 2019 for FOREX. People that open accounts with $5000 often only have $5000 and I find smaller accounts gamble more often than larger accounts. While I was at my old firm, we only offered institutional accounts, so retail FOREX only made sense to us...

    Commission for split order

Good question. If you enter buy 5000, get an execution on 1000 shares, then lower your limit by $0.10, then get a fill?? I'd have to ask if the price change creates a new order ticket with another trade cost.

Reverse engineering a profitable C2 strategy

This is one of the problems with SMA that I have discussed with managers that are choosing SMA over a fund. (I'm not going to refer to the C2 type programs, but it is the same problem). I have seen investors enter a CTA program with $100,000 but run the same strategy one day delayed with $2mm. I...

    Commission for split order

At Lightspeed, we charge $4.50/Trade, Max order Size of 10,000 shares. It does not matter how many fills you get. If your order to buy 5000 shares gets filled in 50, 100 lots, one 5000 lot or only 100 shares leaves 4900 open, the charge is $4.50. In addition, we have routing fees/credits...

    Broker for 'hedging' futures

Either is fine. I try to use"Bob" at Lightspeed as we have another Robert that uses "Rob". I still do not see the advantage to what I call a boxed positions and the CME refers to as “Concurrent," as a strategy. If you live in the US, the IRS treats 1256 contracts, which all futures are, as a...

    Broker for 'hedging' futures

This topic has come up before, and that time for a friend too. There is no reason to ever do this. What is the point of this boxed position? Concurrent Long and Short Positions https://www.cmegroup.com/tools-information/lookups/advisories/market-regulation/files/SER-7613v3.pdf

Has anyone managed to negotiate lower fees with IB?

Any Prime brokerage service, IB, Lightspeed etc, is when you custody your account at the Prime Broker but execute with another broker.

    new TDAmeritrade EULA arbitration agreement

This has been the norm for as long as I can remember. https://www.sec.gov/oiea/investor-alerts-bulletins/ib_arbitration.html Arbitration Clauses Most, if not all, account agreements between broker-dealers and their customers have arbitration clauses. The arbitration clauses usually require...

    Selling SPX boxes for interest

You should enter the box as a 4 leg spread. It will not be executed as legs, but as one trade with f prints. If you are adding or taking liquidy, I have no idea but it is likely you will be adding.

    Selling SPX boxes for interest

You need to have the available margin for the first spread, then your platform or broker has a process for pairing off positions into spreads. assuming they pick up your spread as a box, after you have that on, they use that requirement.

The PDT rule is holding me back. And it makes no sense.

http://www.finra.org/investors/day-trading-margin-requirements-know-rules Here is the why: The primary purpose of the day-trading margin rules is to require that certain levels of equity be deposited and maintained in day-trading accounts, and that these levels be sufficient to support the risks...

They don't take $5000 accounts and that was an average of all accounts of all sizes.
