In the minds of our resident ET economist PHD's the USD foreign exchange rates are solely driven by Fed funds rates and nothing else!

    Carlyle Capital Nears Collapse

Repeating the same drivel every day doesn't add any more factual truth to it. Rate cuts destroy an economy? Go read a basic introduction to macro economics. It will help clean up some of the misconceptions in your head.

    Concerns about today's rally

Not sure, but is it anything special if the Dow moves a total of 2% within 2 trading days when the $VIX is around 27-29?

    jim rogers on cnbc today....

I like Rogers myself. What he fails to address IMO is how it benefits the US economy if the banking system were to go into a systemic tailspin with a couple of big institutions (e.g. C, WM etc.) going out of business overnight and defaulting on their debt. LIBOR would likely soar to 15% and...

Another hedge fund falls off a cliff

It means they won't earn incentive fees for a while so many just try to shut down. I say try because most of their holdings are probably rather illiquid so they will have a hard time getting money for their whatever they own.

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

I agree with plugger. No point in fighting over macro economic basics. For anybody who wants a recommendation on a good macro economics text book I'd go with either of these two. Best $100 you can spend on the topic IMO: http://www.amazon.com/Macroeconomics-N-Gregory-Mankiw/dp/0716752379...

My Nomination For Post of The Year!

I agree in principle. Still, the question remains: What do you do after the US banking system is already in a huge mess. What medicine is better for the overall well being of the nations economy over the next 5, 10, 20 years... the capitalist or the 'socialist' one? The scenario the Fed is...

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

Not sure if this is news to you, but every company in the entire world - even the couple of triple AAA rated ones GE, BRK-A, etc. etc, - use credit lines and debt every day of the week. A healthy company's cash account is 'breathing' as cash in coming into the company from revenues of goods sold...
