    90 day T-bill

No, you can buy and sell bills (obviously, if your broker allows this)... Just be aware of the bid/offer.

Indeed, and, funnily enough, there were inflows into retail funds arnd that time, possibly as a result of the Treasury's measure. However, the bigger part of the issue was the institutional funds, with smth like 60% of total industry assets. At any rate, while I do believe Rosengren...

Well, if that was the issue, why did people worry about the run in the first place? Daal, seriously, pls take my word for it. It was NOT a solvency issue, it was precisely a liquidity issue that had to do with the duration mismatch that the MMF industry was allowed to run. The Fed MMIFF...

No, I am correct... I watched it unfold and was right in the thick of it. I don't even remember something as trivial as a $50bn guarantee. Given the size of the money mkt fund industry, $50bn is less than nothing. The MMIFF, which, as I said, was a Fed program, was a liquidity facility of up...

MMIFF never relied on the FX fund of any sort. It was a Fed program, not the US Treasury's, so I am not sure what the FX fund has to do with it.

Indian banks paying relatively high interest rates

TBH, this wasn't me being sarcastic, but rather asking a leading question... That's business banking, innit? All I'm saying is that I have a hard time imagining this service being offered to a regular account holder.

Indian banks paying relatively high interest rates

My point is that HSBC are a VERY conservative bank, which served them in good stead in the crisis. They're not going to be offering anything of the sort to people.

Well, as I said, the regulations are a bit tougher now, so the probability of a 2008-style run is a wee bit lower. Also, why can't they guarantee the whole thing like they did with MMIFF, if sh1t properly hits the fan?

Hahaha, good luck with doing any of this with HSBC...

MMIFF can always been re-instituted quite easily. Generally, it's no secret that the mm system is still screwed up and that there hasn't been much meaningful reform. Still it's a bit better than it was before, due to some new rules (shorter maturities, tighter liquidity requirements, etc).

    Protective Put on EUR

No, it's not particularly cheep... In some, it's downright crazy expensive. It's hard to answer your question without excruciating detail.

As atticus mentions, it's all about FX... You're being compensated for running the exchange rate risk. If you feel this compensation is adequate, by all means go for it.

Oh Zerohedge, you always know how to cheer me up...

Another idiotic article with a meaningless idiotic number...

    My Nerves Are Shot

The bit about PoT... Instantaneous risk-neutral PoT is not a tool, it's a meaningless number, so suggesting to people, as you do, that it can be used to "select" a short strike is incorrect. It's also misleading to keep bringing it up, which is what you did in your response to the OP's query...

    My Nerves Are Shot

My pleasure... My arguments are not meant to dissuade you from doing whatever you want to do in your trading, as I have mentioned to you repeatedly in the other forum. My comments, categorical though they might be, are made in order to counteract you spreading your erroneous (IMO) views...

    My Nerves Are Shot

Well, if you understand its limitations, why do you keep throwing these meaningless numbers out there? That's inconsistent... Instantaneous risk-neutral PoT, as calculated by yourself or TOS or whoever, is a wholly meaningless number for purposes of the sort of trading discussed in this...

FED is buying more treasuries than were issued?????

Well, why would you say that there's nobody talking about it? I am pretty sure Bill Gross has been talking about that particular subject a lot recently. Secondly, why would you extrapolate, given that the size of the QE3 program is limited and well defined? So is the govt deficit which...
