    Unicredit in trouble?

I would generally have quite a lot of sympathy for this view. However, the US MMF industry is horribly flawed and needs to be reformed. If it's not reformed (and a few things have been done, but nowhere near enough), it needs to die, IMHO, because it represents a massive tail risk for the...

    Unicredit in trouble?

Treasuries and agencies, mostly, although it would vary, depending on the MMF type/mandate (I don't have the ICI data handy, but, if I remember correctly, roughly 1/2 of the MMF assets are in so-called non-govt funds). And yes, the US MMF community used to be full of European bank commercial...

    Unicredit in trouble?

This is misleading, as the majority of the exposure of these US funds is to the Dutch, Swiss etc names, which also are considered European. US money funds have cut their exposure to EMU banks drastically. For example, their exposure to French banks is only arnd 2% of their holdings. I don't...

French central bank president attacks UK: Britain should be downgraded

A few things, I guess... Education is one. Aircraft engines also, maybe. The other big thing, according to the HMRC stats, is pharma.

French central bank president attacks UK: Britain should be downgraded

Yeah, that would be good, but it's, unfortunately, not likely to happen... The only reason the old Commonwealth ties are still around (more or less) is the personal qualities of Queen Elizabeth and the respect everyone has for her. Sadly, what little remains of the old Commonwealth is likely...

The future of the USA - 2012-2016: An insolvent and ungovernable United States

Well, quite clearly the Swiss have had all the overvaluation of the Swiss Franc they're prepared to tolerate. The yuan, yes, perhaps it will become more flexible. Perhaps it will happen before pigs fly, 'cause it sure as hell doesn't seem to be happening at the moment, what with all the issues...

The future of the USA - 2012-2016: An insolvent and ungovernable United States

And what major world ccies might those be then? The mighty Euro? The unstoppable Sterling? The pegged Yuan? The wonderful housing-bubblicious Aussie? Moreover, would't the 30% drop in the Dollar exchange rate have the obvious implications for the imports of consumer goods.

Did The Fed Quietly Bail Out A Bank just now

Nah, it's just HeroZedge... Too much liquidity of all sorts and a bit too early for it to be the turn, IMHO.

The dollar is worthless? Why haven't I been informed, goddammit... Wait, there's hope yet! What's this then, I ask you? http://www.mcdonalds.com/us/en/food/meal_bundles/dollar_menu.html

French central bank president attacks UK: Britain should be downgraded

To be honest, just a matter of taste, really... Mostly it's the people. In fact, nobody likes the Parisians, even the other French, so I'm not alone. I love the other parts of France, especially Normandy. But, as I said, it's just my personal preference, is all.

I agree... My punctuation isn't quite what it used to be. But what's a guy to do? Age, you know, takes its toll. You think there's any pills out there to keep my punctuation ... rigid, so to speak? :)

French central bank president attacks UK: Britain should be downgraded

I am not really sure how you define "better off", tbh. I live in one country and visit the other one very often. I don't really know what it is that makes France that much better and I really like France (with the exception of Paris). I just think they're very different.

Did The Fed Quietly Bail Out A Bank just now

I know; my questions were rhetorical... So would you like to rephrase your previous post in a way that doesn't make it sound silly? Would be difficult to take this conversation to a higher level otherwise...

Did The Fed Quietly Bail Out A Bank just now

Erm, how do you define "printed facts", as opposed to "real facts"? Doesn't the definition of "fact" make "real" redundant? Isn't there only one type of "fact" out there?

Did The Fed Quietly Bail Out A Bank just now

Huh? When did I say "everything is business as usual"? Pls let's try to stay on topic, shall we? My point is that getting excited about borrowing from the Fed Discount Window is a waste of time. I haven't read the HZ articles, but if you actually look at the figures, the weekly amounts...

T-bond now in historical high, how much higher can it go?

Yep, been there, done that, have the t-shirt... As someone said on another forum, if you think smth makes sense in Japan, do the exact opposite. That's why they call it Napaj.

So this is one of those cases where the whole it is stupid and you know better, right?
