Big Picture Possibility... First Good, Then Very Bad

When the market broke down late last year, I became persuaded that the October top was IT, and a bear market had begun. I was looking for the price pattern to follow through on that notion, but it didn't. Instead I had to revise my view that the December low was actually an "abc-abc-abc" 4th...

We All Owe Al Gore An Apology': More People See Climate Change In Record Flooding

Colorado snow pack recently reported as "150% of normal". Skiers had it great this year. Some resorts stayed open longer than normal while others actually reopend for a couple of weekends. "Solar cycles" seem most logical culprit.

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

OP's 10-yr old workstation likely worth ~$100 if working. (I bought an old T3500 on eBay a couple of years ago, likely same vintage as OP's, for $75 including ship.) Not worth replacing mobo.... not to mention the old technology.

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

Better use a stop. Likely a loser... at least in terms of cost/value. (I also think mobo is likely candidate, but not worth the money to replace.)

What's more likely to be dead - CPU or motherboard?

Agree with Morse... 10 years old, not worth trying to get it running again if other than simple fix. Wouldn't put any money into it at all. Recommend HP Z440 at Newegg. Any configuration you want. Currently starting @ $328.

Start a Hedge Fund for 30k (Serious)

Years ago I queried the SEC about starting a hedge fund for myself. They told me, "If you can't raise $50 Million quickly, the costs and regulatory requirements would likely make it a no-go". FWIW...

Need to contact Commodities Options Sellers ONLY

You must be young... apparently eschewing punctuation. Did you ever hear, "punctuation is the difference between helping your uncle Jack off a horse and helping your uncle jack-off a horse"?

    Foolish, Greedy Man Trump

Bernard Baruch once said, "Americans will spend everything they have, plus their credit capacity." How could he have known that 100 years ago??

Tennis... Best Clay Court Player Of All Time

Years ago I recall the tennis broadcasters discussing, "Who's the best clay courter right now?". Mary Carillo said, "It could be Rafa Nadal".... who was a teenager, still in the juniors. This weekend he competes for his 12th French Open title. (The man is an ANIMAL in the dirt!) In the...

Need to contact Commodities Options Sellers ONLY

We had some of them guys in America not long ago. They went bust BIG time. (Were loaded in natgas calls they's sold just before the market spiked.) Was in all the papers.

    Foolish, Greedy Man Trump

"...Trump: "Stocks Would Be 10,000 Points Higher If Fed Kept Rates Lower" Dec 2018: Goldman - “4 more rate hikes” Trump - “Fed should be cutting rates now” Everyone - “Trump is insane” June 2019: Everyone - “Fed should be cutting rates now” — zerohedge (@zerohedge) June 6, 2019...

Fed uses Chicago conference to signal it will use quantitative easing aggressively to fight next rec

The big dog has already spoken. Powell has basically said, "The (dovish) Fed is onboard for whatever it takes". Doubt lesser Fed members reiterating Powell's sentimet would have much impact. IOW... The market don't usually "chew its cabbage twice". (There are/were supposedly 13 announced...

MAGA: US denies GM request for tariff relief for Chinese-made Buick SUV

BMW makes a lot of cars here, don't they? VW makes a lot of cars in Mexico. What's with that?

If 450 people looked at it and it's still on the market, must be overpriced.

Trading to NOT LOSE vs Trading to Win

Disagree with your premise. Good trading is not about either. When you learn better, "I should take this __________ trade, and I understand why"... and do it with discipline and stops.... then you will be trading better and "trading to win". When you've learned to trade "better enough", you...

Chomping at the bit to BTFD, are you?

May not be much in magnitude. The difference is that in a trading range, you know you're in it... likely have been for a while, back and forth. Once you see that buy the bottom of the range... sell the top of the range. But expect the rally phase to act like a mini-bull and the decline phase...

Following Trump's tariff threat, Mexico begins immigration talks in Washington

How about a "wall of lead"? That is, cross the border uninvited... get shot on sight*! (After 10,000 or so casualties, they'd think twice about transgressing our borders. And not all that radical... think of what N. Korea or Iran would do to invaders...) *Of ocouse that wouldn't be our 1st...

Chomping at the bit to BTFD, are you?

The hallmark of bearishness*... is "price pattern of lower lows and lower highs". We have that now, so caution/discipline advised for dip buyers. *Markets behave bearishly during.... 1. Genuine bear markets 2. Corrections to bull markets 3. Downswing in trading range markets. FWIW...

You Give them an Inch , they want a Yard

Yes. Trumps wants/needs concessions NOW. Xi/China can "wait him out". I applaud Trump's effort to rectify trade injustices granted to others by prior administrations, but the reality is that he's under pressure to get something done within the time frame of our elections. The other side is...
