Warren Buffett Made Some Surprising Buys And Sells For Berkshire Hathaway In Q4

Buffet had been holding large amount of cash... saying, "can't find anything worth buying at current valuations". But at the start of the 4th quarter, Powell started his "Not QE, QE"... and Buffett recognized this as "money pumping again, regardless of what Powell called it". Mystery solved.

Trump Cutting Taxes For Stock Traders?

I can recall when bank passbook rates were 5.25% (and we thought that was lousy), money markets were 6-6.5% and government 30 yrs were 8.5%. The spending was done with modest constraints and we got along just fine. All this stupidly low interest BS is political greed*... so government can...

    New Day Trader Wash Sale

Makes for a lot of messy/busy-work accounting and record keeping... and has virtually zero tax/financial impact on anybody. Wouldn't it be less complicated if you could have just listed your first trade at a $10 loss and your second trade at a $50 loss... instead of keeping track and adjusting...

Is very low interest rate the norm?

It's like America is doing a slow motion "Thelma & Louise".. and we just can't help ourselves but to drive off the cliff. :(

    New Day Trader Wash Sale

I don't think it's a good thing, but yes... you can make up the $10 tax free. And if you end up taking a loss on this trade... say $50 and you bought the stock again within 30 days and again for $800, your "cost basis" on that trade would be $860... allowing you to make up the $60 tax free...

    New Day Trader Wash Sale

If you have a loss that you can't take because of wash sale rules.... the loss is added to the cost basis of your next trade... effectively allowing you to make up the loss on the original trade, tax free. Personally, my view is that the wash sale thingy should be scrapped. It's really just...

Trump Cutting Taxes For Stock Traders?

NOOOOO. He ran the biggest deficits in history... and the worst possible kind, too! (Unfortunately, looks like Trump is trying to trump Odumbo's deficits.) :(

Is very low interest rate the norm?

    Turkey... I took this from Wikipedia.. The following are based on yearly averages: 1960s – 1 U.S. dollar = 9 Turkish lira 1970 – 1 U.S. dollar = 11.3 Turkish lira 1975 – 1 U.S. dollar = 14.4 Turkish lira 1980 – 1 U.S. dollar = 80 Turkish lira 1985 – 1 U.S. dollar = 500 Turkish lira 1990 – 1...

Trump Cutting Taxes For Stock Traders?

Politically motivated. Makes no sense to cut taxes and not cut/increase spending... that just creates greater unsustainable (ultimately) deficits.

Pharma Drug Kaletra by Abbvie Inc. (NYSE: ABBV) successful in coronavirus treatment

I don't think so. Markets run on anticipation/rumor... "facts" come later, if ever.

Pharma Drug Kaletra by Abbvie Inc. (NYSE: ABBV) successful in coronavirus treatment

All of that would make it more expensive, wouldn't it? Making the stock price SOAR?

Is very low interest rate the norm?

Government/Fed notorious for "measuring inflation" with an index of "fluid" components.. to make inflation look lower than it is... electronics, cars... whatever else with declining costs over time.... and substitutions, like "If you substitute hot dogs for steak, the cost of MEAT isn't...

Is very low interest rate the norm?

All you gotta do is look at the cost increases in the "things" you buy. The REAL inflation rate is closer to 10% than the BS story we get from the government and Fed.

Pharma Drug Kaletra by Abbvie Inc. (NYSE: ABBV) successful in coronavirus treatment

If true, would expect the stock to be soaring... but it's not.

Is very low interest rate the norm?

We are already in the process of "inflation escalating".. though the Fed manipulates the data, parameters and narrative to give the impression we are not... that "there is no inflation, so we can continue to lower rates and goose the money supply".. which is a complete LYING CROCK OF SHIT!!

Is very low interest rate the norm?

There is some substance to that line of thought. We've made it too easy and not all that painful to get away with defaulting on our debts... much to our discredit. I say, "bring back debtor's prison!" Seems the notion of, "If I don't pay back my debt, somebody else takes it in the neck... is...

Why not use call Options in a bull market? (BTC/ETH)

KISS, baby! To make any REAL money in the markets you generally need to make a large, unhedged bet and be correct... or a highly leveraged, highly risky bet and get away with it. The market gives us plenty of chance to make "modest" profit in any number of ways... but if you wanna score big...

Short Ideas "if" Corona Virus Hits Our Shores In a Big Way

/sarc... So far, markets are playing... "Fed pumping TRUMPS EVERYTHING". Will continue that way until market "changes its mind". If/when the market wakes up to the potential damage of the virus, should it come to that, the market will tank so fast we won't be able to get out of the way.
