Not even the top of book for ARCA without paying

Me too. Day 2: no ARCA quotes at all, even though I subscribed yesterday morning as soon as I found out about this change. Is anyone using IB, or anyone anywhere, getting ARCA quotes???

Not even the top of book for ARCA without paying

Steve IB, Thanks for the note. I subscribed to ARCA this morning, and I can't see ARCA quotes, although some of my trades are going through ARCA. What do I need to do to see the ARCA quotes? Thanks!

Not even the top of book for ARCA without paying

Just a "welcome" gift from the newly public NYSE. IB csr says it changed yesterday afternoon. I don't remember any prior notification. Maybe I missed it.

Not even the top of book for ARCA without paying

I just subscribed to the $10/mo ARCA feed but still no ARCA quotes. I don't think IB would surprise its clients like this. Is this a software problem? Anyone know what is going on?

    CFA candidate interested in trading

A big part of trading is risk management for most people. Since institutions like the CFA, as Hydroblunt correctly states, a CFA can reduce your career risk since it will make it easier for you to transition into institutional analysis (which pays well) in the event that trading does not work...

    Just hired

Shilz, What is up with the name? Sounds a lot like "shill". Not a positive connotation for someone with one post who is outlining a deal being offered to newbies, which, as Hydroblunt points out above, does not include details like commison rates. IMHO, you might be better off with a...

I have used www.networksolutions.com for hosting/design, and they are OK for someone without any experience. There are probably better ones that I do not know of.

Is it possible to reduce risk to zero?

Yes. The "definition" of risk free is the 3-month (US) Treasury bill, now yielding over 5%. Some would argue even that is not truly risk free.

    How to raise money legally?

Regarding classic equities management (not a hedge fund set-up), so long as you do not receive compenation, you can legally trade equities for anyone, no limits. Federal law, as I understand it, allows you to trade equities, and charge, for up to 15 individuals, without registration...

    IB credit interest rate

If you don't like IB's credit interest rates (4.55% for funds over $10,000; 4.80% for funds over $100,000), you won't like the 1.125% that you can get at TradeStation for balances over $10,000. (I have accounts at both, and I find the TS credit rates a bit frustrating.)...

    Bernanke is an idiot

After almost two decades, Greenspan's tenure as Fed Chairman was widely (if not universally) lauded as artful and competent. Yet, even the new (swearing-in date August 11, 1987; market top August 25) Greenspan suffered a financial crisis two months after his appointment. Bernanke may or may...
