More on the Sydney, Australia move

You can close the superfund when you leave the country (normal sort of rules for "I have left Aus" apply). Also check out trading as a company as a way of increasing the maximum that can be invested in the superfund each year. Note that the funds money must be invested conservatively.

More on the Sydney, Australia move

Totally agreed with Zentrader. If you traded Nikkei / SPI / STW or Kospi you probably have a 9:45 to 4:30 (no daylight savings time in Sunny Queensland) lifestyle. I prefer HSI so I trade 11:45 to 2:30 and 4:30 to 5:55 (knocking off 20minutes early to watch the news).

The Best TA Book Ever Published!!

David, To state that a method is untestable (at this point in time or with the tools currently available) is pure science. To state that something you can't test is: subjective meaningless worse than wrong is religion not science. A scientist doesn't reject god (because of...

The best book on trading ever written?

Brett Steenbarger's new book "Enhancing Trader Performance" is out. I haven't read it but it will be a good one - I don't know if it'll be the best but it might be for you. :) Brett applies his intellect to the problems traders face without any bull. He won't tell you what your edge should...

    Total beginner looking for advice

Steve, You say investing. You are receiving lots of answers but most of the answers probably buy and then resell the stock in periods from minutes to a few days. What holding period do you have in mind? What books have you read on making money from the markets?

The Best TA Book Ever Published!!

It is the internet and ET sometimes stands for Educating Traders but much of the time, sensibly, stands for Entertaining Traders. Surfer's previous recommendation of a certain fake turtle's book (which ended up making him wish that he'd retracted some of the positives he put forward) has also...

ROTFLMAO. One of the great things about ET is that even the morons can be funny at times.

    Yes. Very civilized :)

    Hang Seng and Nikkei futures

Yes, TWS really isn't fast enough if you want to know the microstructure of what happened. Sometimes I think about getting an extra data feed that might lag but include all the information however folk like Bolter tell me that even with that data tools like Market Delta don't work well on HSI.

    Hang Seng and Nikkei futures

IMHO Bitstream you are not thinking well about HSI and not perceiving it clearly. First, you need to get the timeframe right. Second you might consider it to be like an index with a bigger dollar point value. Imagine if SGXNK traded at each point rather than ticking over 5 points a time (in...

Its always flattering when morons post negatively about you. A nice complement.

    Staying focused/disciplined during slow

Trade the HSI to meet these objectives. Two sessions: First is 2.75 hours, then after a 2 hour lunch the second is 1.75 hours. No wasted time.

Multiple systems at the same time

I like "Things that work and make you happy are preferable to things that fail and make you unhappy." But you can feel free to experiment all you like to test that.

Anyone move to Australia from the US?

I used to live on Tarawa ... beer from Aus ... shells from the USA (getting a bit old but still good for a show).

But had an excellent second half when it finally broke :)

    Hang Seng and Nikkei futures

Good. I was exiting just below prior highs because it had moved up a lot and hadn't broken out again. I got caught out this afternoon assuming that resistance would hold because the Nikkei had been so down over lunch.

"micro-lending" I say Adolf Hitler just won the Nobel Peace Prize

Article written in 1995. Maybe in the following decade the bank proved more useful to the world than the obviously biased writers. Funny that a Nobel would be awarded if that wasn't the case.

    Anybody using IE 7...

Try FF2.0 as well. The things I like most about it are that the advert removal is much cleaner than in the IE/Avant environment and I can create a tidier browser than I've achieved previously. Note that the two folders in the picture are from the "Bookmark Bar" and I don't label them as I...

    Market Delta by bolter

I see the "part way" prices on the live feed too dcraig. There is something wrong with IB's datafeed. As with bars that don't include the true high or low, when you do a refresh the data is corrected.
