My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

Aaron, BINGO! You can thank Bernanke and the Fed that that is still the case (at least to an extent)! Without the Fed's action LIBOR would have likely shot up sky high (waaaay above Fed funds target rate) and simply sit there for months (years) signaling banks are simply hoarding cash instead of...

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

I didn't say it's more important. I said you can't have one without the other. You can not have job growth with contracting overall credit.

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

Credit != government debt. Norway may have little debt but they do have a working private banking system where banks borrow funds among each other and provide loans to corporations and individuals right? When banks become unwilling to extend credit to the economy regardless of the...

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

I thought it couldn't get worse here on the forum. Landis is right, you're wrong. You won't have job growth without a functioning banking system. Credit is the lubricant that keeps a nation's economy running. No credit no growth simple as that. Banking system goes into melt-down so does...

My Nomination For Post of The Year!

So true. It seems to be the "intellectually accepted" notion here on ET (and elsewhere) that the Fed and Washington should just stand pat in true laizzes faire style and just watch as the banking system melts down. peilthetraveler nailed it 100% IMO. This is not about "bailing out Wall Street's...

Zuckerman - "Worst set of macroeconomic conditions since the Great Depression"

Was this guy around in 2001/2002? We had NFP releases of -200k every other month. If February was terrible I wonder what he'll call -200k?

My way of fighting the fed, I cannot sit still anymore

Landis, let's go help the middle class. I say let's raise rates not to 6% but to 12% overnight so oil and grains come down, after all everybody is talking about inflation here! The dollar would bounce, inflation talk would disappear from headlines and the banking system would go into a systemic...

Spitzer, What goes around comes around!

I'd say Elliot's wife is a pretty hot MILF. He's a dumbass for cheating on her, now looking like a sad clown in front of his 3 daughters. What an idiot.

    Bernake Killing Middle Class

The middle class has to blame their own spending habits, not Bernanke. Did Bernanke - himself install a government that spends trillions of US tax payers money on overseas wars? Or was that tens of millions of middle class bible belt voters? - force the middle class to buy overvalued...

Gotta love low volume 400 point rallies

That's what I did. Volume was huge.

    The Rally Since 1PM . . .

"Not possible" does not exit in the markets IMO. Anything is possible. This can be a 10 year bear market just as much as we could rally back up to new highs until the end of the year. How can you be so certain markets can't go up from here? All I am asking is why you would risk arguing yourself...

    The Rally Since 1PM . . .

S2007S, I subscribe to the thesis that news mean nothing, price means everything. That doesn't mean you won't be right, it just means I don't think we do ourselves a favor cherry picking which prices moves we think are "real" and which are "fake" and thus trying to outguess the markets.

    The Rally Since 1PM . . .

Just so I understand this right... Fed intervention invalidates a double bottom now? Food for thought: How can you be certain there was no Fed intervention in all the other double bottoms in the last 50 years in the SP500? Crash of 1987 is a prime example, which saw massive Fed...

Gotta love low volume 400 point rallies

Low volume? Everything I am looking at (NYSE volume, major ETFs volume) is way above average. This was a big volume day.

You are obviously right. Doesn't mean it can't be tested again though. We'll see.

Then just load up with double short ETFs. All the way. You'll make a fortune.
