the break even on automation changes with labor costs. in India it is cheaper to have someone cut grass with a mechanical mower than it it to buy a gas powered lawnmower. in the US it’s much cheaper relatively to buy a riding mower.

This SPAC bubble is making the dot com bubble look non existent.

The wealth that was tossed around was incredible back in the late 1990s. How many of those billionaires sold businesses that had no revenue or profit generation model? FB generated 90 billion dollars last year and 30 billion of profit and its growing at a 20percent rate.

A funny thing happens at $15 per hour...

I think it will lead to more offshoring and automation. As such labor wage volatility (caused by a strong economy) combined with health insurance volatility (market structure) makes the capital investment of automation much more appealing than it did even 10 years ago. 10 years ago we dismissed...

there is no god and bugs bunny is his name

???? Christianity is the most religion religion out there. Most of major religions before it didn’t push conversion. Many of them pushed philosophies with deep meaning instead of a book we are asked to take literally.

Re-opening Schools in the era of COVID

mass was a lot more rational. Virtually everyone is hybrid except 2nd graders and younger who need the touch support as they learn to read, etc. While there was an uptick in infections in December, it was nowhere near 20percent in our district - I think 4 staff tested positive and they were at...

Re-opening Schools in the era of COVID

I live in Mass and there have been no Covid breakouts in my kids’ school. They essentially went remote The Whole month of December but didn’t go remote after February break. Some classes go remote if a student in that class tests positive but there have only been a handful of those in the...

Manufacturing CEO: Before Biden, it felt like we were fighting the pandemic alone

Buffett’s ‘Tone Deaf’ Annual Letter Skirts Major Controversies

he donated to Hillary but didn’t comment on trump other than to say “we’ll do fine regardless of who wins.” he’s doing exactly what you conservatives want businesses to do: stay out of politics (unless they are overtly Christian or pro trumpian politics).

you think the 3-7months of the vix are fair at 29? I don’t follow why you and him are in favor of shorting the vix but not doing it through puts.

    Vol-trading for beginners

The whole term is at 29 and prior to this week we were sliding 3-5 points in 30 days to 22. I think the probability of vix being at 15 and the whole term following is higher than vix remaining at 22 or 30. my macro view is that Covid is over and markets will not see a material sell off other...
