Russia says better to save Greece from a default

Nice and central... Izmailovo for me, so not central at all. You know what they say? What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. And the bread and vodka diet is what separates the boyz from the men.

Fair points and fairly stated, all of 'em... Can't disagree.

Russia says better to save Greece from a default

So what are you saying then? That the US, as far as its foreign policies go, is purer than the driven snow, while Russia is, basically, Mordor? Is that the idea?

Russia says better to save Greece from a default

Well, to be honest, I am pretty sure you're more of an outsider than myself, but I might be biased. How long have you lived there, just out of curiosity? And yeah, obviously, Russia would often act in a way that seems to thwart whatever interests might be perceived as "positive" by...

Russia says better to save Greece from a default

Well, I disagree... All countries, including the US, Russia and the rest, do all those things because the leadership thinks and expects it will be of benefit. Of course, whether that turns out to be the case, that's a different issue. But I don't think there's any reason to believe that the...

Russia says better to save Greece from a default

Indeed... Of course, this holds true for pretty much any given country out there.

That's bizarre, man... Surely it doesn't make sense to blame the G-man for Paulson's poor performance this year?

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

As I keep saying, Greek sov CDS is worth exactly 0, which is where it should drop. However, in this case, it's just a bad CNBC feed. The mkt is still 58/64 (that's in points).

I wouldn't wanna be long EUR/CHF for all the cookies in the world. If you want the carry and the SNB floor, be long a more pleasant ccy. But then that's me talking my book.

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

Yes, but I think our current discussion is not about the EU, but rather the Eurozone and the EMU. More specifically, the latter. For our purposes, the UK has nothing to do with the Eurowoes, precisely because it has its own ccy.

No worries... In general, the problem with all these things that appear eminently sensible at first glance is all these technical issues. The whole system is complicated and, unfortunately, very fragile at the moment, due to years of "return optimization". So you do one of these simple things...

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

I do live in London, but, last time I looked, UK wasn't part of the EMU. The problem with people is that everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too. So everyone in the Eurozone, including, I assure you, the Germans, wants the Euro, with all its benefits. However, they also want it to...

For sure... It's just a question of how much fear there is. All I'm saying is that until we know that US is like Japan it's hard to imagine a couple trillion of excess reserves going into USTs, no matter how much financial repression is used. Obv, I might be totally wrong on this.
