Foreigners Trading US Equities using Online US Brokerage

Most foreigners don't have a TIN, in which case you have nothing to fill. See http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/iw8ben.pdf for explanations.

Foreigners Trading US Equities using Online US Brokerage

Trade profits are tax-exempt for foreigners. However dividents are taxable. You should fill a form w8-ben and declare that you are a non-resident alien. Send this form to the broker. I'd recommend a canadian brokerage, for example questrade.com for trading US equities by non-americans...

70% correct prediction, frozen, can't pull triger to make a trade.

One problem is, it can be 70% or even 90% winning trades, but still losing money. One example of such system is: buy anything, sell if it goes up 0.1%; if it goes down, don't sell but hold.

-20% for August. Nothing to say. It sucks to be a loser. But I'll keep posting until the death of that account. Questrade is launching new trading platforms today, may be I'll have more luck with better order entry interfaces. I wish one of those platforms had an automation interface. It...

easier to make a short strategy or a long strategy

What's for sure, it's harder to simulate short trading system. Because you should know what stocks are available for short at any given moment (and it depends on your broker too), and you should simulate the "bid up" rule. Also short generally takes longer to fill. Of course this doesn't...

The fills that I am getting are terrible

Few days ago I had a limit ask order at .49, saw prints at .50 and .51 going throug, but my order wasn't filled. These co-located pro's are so smart..

here is a quality thread cause others are quiet

The math behind this "advice" is as follows: If you make one trade with 100% of your capital, you pay $20 commission. If you make 50 trades each utilizing 2% of your capital, you pay 50 * 20 = $1000 commission.

It's cheaper to develop with C#. .NET is such a good thing, everything is served half chewed to you. Development costs are so low, anyone can write software in no time. Damn what is more important - portability or trading profits? Of course if you already wasted several years of your life...

Sh.t, I m not learning from my mistakes. Twice missed profitable signals today. I sit here, waitng for signals. Program screams "Buy!", I hasten to enter my order and click "Send", and then I receive ... "You were logged out because of inactivity". Because I forgot that I must click that...

    my trading system backtest

Basically you should test your system on out-of-sample data (any time period other than that used to develop the system, to fine tune parameters etc). For example, test on 2006-2007, or on years before 2000. If your in-sample results show 90% winners, and out-of-sample results show 50%...

Launched High Frequency Automated Trading Blackbox

I'm confused. As I know, in Forex you always buy at ask and sell at bid. Doing 100 trades a day means losing 200-300 pips right away, which is more than average daily range in most currency pairs. Looks impossible to win in such setup.

No Black Monday Posts? What does that say about sentiment?

The opposite scenario could also materialize: if it does not go lower then it will bounce, or might stay the same. As to the bounce strength, we should consider two options here: either it will exceed 11.65 points or bounce by a lesser amount. In the former case, some profit taking could...

-5% in July. Earned gross $117 on 20 trades, paid $229 in commisions. It's too early to tell based on only 25 trades, but all this doesn't look good so far. May be the problem is, system was tested on preceeding months when market rose, and now we see some downturn in the end of this month...

Would a successful trading record at a prop firm help me break into IBanks and funds?

I think actually daytraders are at an advantage to funds etc simply because it's easier to buy 1000 shares than 1,000,000 shares.

    Backtesting speed

In your case all quotes can easily fit in computer memory (RAM). Modern RAM moves data at a speed ~1 GB/second. Say your bar size is 20 bytes -> theoretical limit should be in the range of 50 mln bars/second.
