China To Dominate In "Electric Vehicle" Manufacturing

Yeah, I bet people will be standing in lines to put their family in a car made in China. The only reason people buy junk made in China is because it's dirt cheap, not because of quality or innovation.

Everything Is Roses, Jobs Report Will Be Great Tomorrow

RVX, VXN and VXO are all UP with this rally. The VXO is up 1.14. A small push down will rip this rally's legs off and beat it into submission. The talking heads are pretty sure it's all up from here, though.

    Rethinking Retirement Saving?

If you can refi your mortgage at a 4.5% rate, why would you pay down the loan? Inflation will probably be higher than 4.5% in the near future. I rolled my 401K into an IRA and manage the account myself. I wouldn't have it any other way.

why do so many morons keep saying you cant short C

I'm showing hard to borrow on TOS. I can buy OTM puts. IV is a little on the high side, though. :D

    selling to close

Truthfully, your questions aren't very clear. The only thing I can add is your long options will be automatically exercised if they are in the money by $0.01, unless you contact your brokerage and let them know that you do not want exercised.

    A lil help here...

Okay, my dad and I were talking options and ex dividend dates, and while we both have a decent grasp on how short CALLS are affected, we both are kind of scratching our heads with short PUTS and ex dividend dates. Using a short SPY put at the 77 strike as an example (underlying closed at...

    CNBC: USA is bankrupt

I noticed extremely light rush hour traffic on the San Tan part of the 202 yesterday (Friday). I assume it's a combination of less workers, more workers going home early on a Friday and low consumer traffic. It's normally packed on that stretch of the 202.

    Why is CNBC pushing marijuana?

I don't have an issue with weed itself. Smoke it up. What do I care? I just wonder what the hell CNBC is doing airing commercials, programming and now debating legalizing marijuana in the "Octagon Of Noise" for what seems like around the clock coverage. This is Nancy Grace material. Why...

    Why is CNBC pushing marijuana?

What is the agenda here? I know they're just pretending to be a financial network, but pushing a corporation's agenda is one thing, pushing weed is something entirely different. Any ideas? What do they have to gain from this type of programming?

US financial trouble started in late 90's uner Clinton/Greenspan

Agreed. It all started with voodoo economics and Ayn Greenspan. Those that think a fucking political label makes any difference whatsoever has their head stuck too far up their own ass to hear a word otherwise.

Is it possible to make a modest living w/options?

Let's agree to disagree on this one, Mark. Understanding the concept of options may be simple, but consistently profiting from options is something altogether different. Please don't get me wrong. Until I invested the time to learn the options market, my annual returns were average at best...

Is it possible to make a modest living w/options?

Options, and derivatives in general, are far to complex for the average investor to consistently make profits. If you are not average and if you are willing to devote the time needed to learn the necessary skills, you will make your "modest" living and then some. It is not easy, but nothing...

    Just went short 3X S&P

Tomorrow is a Friday following a big bounce. There's bound to be a pullback. If nothing else, you should make a nice gain on an intraday pullback. I wouldn't hold a 3X reverse ETF over the next couple weeks, though. It's a coin flip where the market is going to go in the short term. Not...

Will the S&P hit 500 or 1000 first?

SPX to 780-800. Momentum could carry the index higher, say 850 or so, and then reality will set in again. On the way back down to 650, the doom and gloom crowd, who obviously suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder, will flood ET with "the world is ending" posts again. I can't wait.

Will the S&P hit 500 or 1000 first?

The market has priced in the world is going to end. It's time to rattle the shorts.

Im going long Ultra SPY (SSO) as of today base price is 15.75

Since the Oct lows the SPX, on average, took 4 days to rally 12%, 8.5%, 19%, 11%, 8% and 8.5% from each sizable retreat. Since Feb 9 the SPX has retreated 19.5% with no real rally. Unless the world really is ending, I expect a 10-15% rally in the next few days. A larger rally, say 20%...
