    Anekdoten: An ET Mentor

Just want to say thanks to Anekdoten and Duref for starthing this thread. I was about to give AHG (in journals) a miss but now won't .

I don't trade YM but am certainly interested in your journal. Thus, can you advise on what is the usual daily range for YM? Thanks.

    Market Depth patterns

Stfreak, Thanks. Some situations yes, I can imagine it because that's what I see too. One of the first time that I realise that I could read a bit of DOM was when I wasn't looking at charts:D However, my DOM knowledge is far from great. Only can better read those extremely clear cases...

Noob playing around with Fib retracements and Andrew's Pitchforks *pics*

Fibonacci Resistance is pretty powerful once you learn them. Never used Andrew's pitchfork as my software does not have them. But I think FR by itself without Andrew's pitchfork is sufficient. IT is never that clear cut ie if it touch this line, it will reverse etc. I've heard combining FR...

    Market Depth patterns

Stfreak, Thanks for sharing but have a couple of things to clarify. 1) "watch the DOM on tops and bottoms. There can be two things: absolutly no liquidity and huge vola" Qn :--the vola is volatility? 2) "always check the bid in an uptrend. as soon as size appears here, odds are...

The thing I dont like about stops

Why is that a loser's game? His reward/risk is > 3:1 which is more than reasonable. The only thing I can think of is that because it is a swing trade(CM69 is a swing trader, hence my assumption), the stop loss of 30 cents may be unrealistic and because of the additional risk of overnight gaps...

The adventures of a new Trader

Sorry about your Aapl trade. But hey, at least you got some pretty good profits with quite a number of your other trades such as VLO, DNA etc and overall this year you are doing well. So since nobody has said well done lately, I thought I just mentioned it. We cannot always get every trade...

    Price/Volume Relationship

Bluedemon77 Maybe you can try to look for this particular pattern and keep observing it real time. This will give you some sort of feel as to whether this will be a true breakout or just for a retracement. QUOTE]Quote from KPCURRENCY: [ Maybe you should spend less time on trying to...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

Thanks johnpinochet. Still congrats on your trades as I believe that you are making profits on it. The trade management is the one that I'm facing the most headache now ie when to take profits (ie assuming I'm in a profitable trade). As to your food for thought table : What is on your...

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

Timdog, I only follow part of Spyder's method. This is mainly due to among other things having not read every single page/forgot a lot of whatever I read (1 day I will really read everything, hopefully before the journal ends) :D and my trading platform not having the ability to cater for...

My simple, yet profitable trading strategy

How long have you noticed that? Seems that both Traderich and yourself have this view. I am wondering why the loss should be relatively smaller than the gain. Could it be because for losers, the gaps are usually larger than the gainers, thus price movement for losers on that day tend to be...

My simple, yet profitable trading strategy

Makosgu, Thanks for the below. Some queries. So at exactly what time will you start entering the position? Do you know of any trading platform that can eliminate the gaps to calculate this information? TIA

    Break-outs and pullbacks

Thanks Nihabaashi. I will say that the most critical part that I need to improve is holding on to winners. Going to try a new strategy for this part. Hopefully it will work.

Spydertrader's Jack Hershey Equities Trading Journal III

Congrats on your success. Usually how much (% or $ wise) will you let a position go against you? Also, do you move your stop loss up to protect profits or move your stop loss to break even or stop loss will always remain at the original stop loss which is below your entry price? Also, when...

    Break-outs and pullbacks

NihabaAshi, With regards to your comments : "..The second highlighted green line on your chart is not a expansion line nor is it a volatility spike because the real expansion interval as a volatility spiked occurred four intervals.." Are you saying that the volatility spike occured on...
