Leveraged Loans Blow Out. Distressed Corporate Debt Spikes

The economy will reset when these loans default. It's unavoidable.

What do you think the state of the economy will be after the worst of the pandemic is over?

Let's see if a jobs report comes out in the next few months showing a massive increase in unemployment... Then tell me it has no effect.

What do you think the state of the economy will be after the worst of the pandemic is over?

Hopefully local governments will take action where the Federal government may be lacking. Corporate debt was super high even before this. So large businesses may default on loans. So what? I predict a brief recession from COVID, then continued expansion of at least 3 years. The only troubling...

You mean the one where you misquoted me, then argued with things I never said?

How do you rate this performance today?

My bet if I were day ttading tomorrow would be SPXL. 3x S&P Bull. Based on its +6.21% post-market. However, I'm not going to actually do it because I won't bet against trend.

What do you think the state of the economy will be after the worst of the pandemic is over?

A few things... First, there was no technical recession when the .com bubble burst. Stock market doesn't measure economy. Also, economic cycles have to do with extending credit more than it should be. Perhaps loss of personal incomes will cause loan defaults and things will spiral downward...

What do you think the state of the economy will be after the worst of the pandemic is over?

Might go lower as cases in USA continue to rise and as poor economic data gets released. But I think Italy's daily infection rate will begin to slow down any day now. I believe today was better than yesterday. USA was at all-time high of ~9300 yesterday

What do you think the state of the economy will be after the worst of the pandemic is over?

Let's say that two months from now, there are no places on Earth that have their hospitals overwhelmed by this virus. There will still be lingering cases but it will not be such a drastic pandemic that it is today. What do you think the state of the economy will be? Do you think we will go back...

How do you rate this performance today?

Keep in mind that I never intend for trading to be my primary source of income, or even close. I placed an order for 1126 shares of TMF for market open today. This is 3x leveraged 20+ year bonds. I bought at $36.82. Within an hour of market open, it was at $37.86 so I saw a quick profit of...

Can one of you metalheads explain why gold hasn't shot through 2000 today?

I've been wondering this since late February.

Coronavirus mortality rate now 0.6%, not 3% as first told

Did you see the jobs/unemployment release today? Release = 273k jobs added, 3.5% unemployment Estimate= 175k, 3.6% And the markets dropped despite of this. I believe your post is correct.

It's over. Historical bull run has come to an end.

Amazing jobs report today. Markets ignored it. I guess the corona panic is a larger force.

Actually, according to this, individuals are the largest owners of the market. 34%. And 23% mutual funds, which the shares are also owned by individuals. 15% foreign investors, which may be individuals as well. Perhaps this is why the markets are so irrational at times. Because people are...

I'm also not sure how true it is that mathematical formulas (algorithms) are responsible for price movement. That would mean that the major players such as Bank of America, etc. rely on blind mathematics rather than knowledge and intuition of experts. Makes no sense. Especially when you...

It's over. Historical bull run has come to an end.

I've come to the conclusion (unless I learn something new) that trying to predict the markets is like trying to predict the behaviors of a wild animal in a cage. You simply cannot know what will happen. Despite years and years of studying, you are still left with lots of uncertainty. Too much...

Yea stock indices go up over time. That's what I meant. Nikkei has gone up 2.5x since the Recession. Japan's real GDP also consistently rises.

What about the fact that stocks always go up over time? That's about the only certainty actually.

It's over. Historical bull run has come to an end.

The market isn't driven by algorithms. It's driven by the sentiment of investors. Especially large institutional investors. They do not make the largest decisions based on algorithms and technical analysis. It doesn't even make sense to say that qualitative data like news stories is traded by...
