72 minutes? Sorry, can't do it.

Trader Loses $377,000 Day Trading TSLA

Well I'm not interested in that. I've come to realize that the only true "trading" that a person can do and even pretend to base it on reality is if they're holding positions for months or years. Think... Buying banks at the bottom of the Recession. Because you plan to hold them until times...

What's his YouTube channel? You sure he's legit? I'll take your word for it if you say he is. But how old is he? How did he get the startup money in his account? Is it possible his parents have him a ton of money initially?

    Lesson learned

I guess I have an advantage... I've never made any money trading. And if I ever did, I think it would be luck just as often as skill.

But the option is weighted at 100x more. So I'll save 1%.

It's easy to say something is obvious after the fact.

If I'm writing call options, my gains are capped at the original premium. I have unlimited loss potential. Isn't that right?

Although... If I buy naked calls, isn't the time decay going to ruin me most of the time? How to avoid that?

Trader Loses $377,000 Day Trading TSLA

True. I need to decide whether it's going to be 1% of my account value or 1% of my total assets. Or perhaps 1% of liquid assets.

So his account was $2,517,333.33. What is the common wisdom for % of total account per trade? It's hard for me to follow such rules because usually I don't have any money in trading until I see something I think is a good "bet." So my account will be zero before I make one trade. I've only...

Lumber tanking 50% in a week. Why?

Builders are building like crazy. I don't think a drop in demand caused the drop (a drop to prices that are still historically high, btw). They probably just worked out some "kink" in the supply chain. The Fed has basically said that mortgage rates will remain super low through probably 2023...

I also potentially lost money with TSLA. I have a bull call spread (433 and 435). I have until Friday for it to go back above 435 (or break even at 433.85). Otherwise I'll lose a whole -$86.30. Capping your losses and rewards is a double edged sword. The previous week, I paper traded TSLA bull...

What statistic could replace earnings in the "Amazon era?"

It's also true that fundamentals don't always predict. Whatever the fundamentals said in December 2019 definitely fell apart very quickly. I am of the opinion that even people with PhD's in economics don't mostly know the fundamentals. It's yet to be discovered on the grandest scale. Analyzing...

What statistic could replace earnings in the "Amazon era?"

You are 100% correct. But to try to find some common ground here... Perhaps it's best to say that even when we "predict" we are hopefully admitting to ourselves that we are just talking about a supposed higher probability of something happening and not a certainty. But I'm definitely just...

Did the prop firm you worked for have any guidelines you had to follow? What were you trading? Futures, stock options, currency pairs?

What statistic could replace earnings in the "Amazon era?"

Take Profit and Stop Loss. I was just using this as a general term... But you could also say the Max Profit or Max Loss from options spreads, etc.
