    Diversification good or bad?

I usually ask questions that another trader can answer for themselves. I like to challenge conventional wisdom. Rather than dismiss something off hand I like too see if it's something that I've overlooked. So I ask questions. Might help me; might help the person I'm asking Also I can always...

    Diversification good or bad?

I can't do anything about that. I didn't even know I was struggling. I have actually found it.

    Roadmap to successful trading

I have suggested many times that beginning traders study why traders fail then just don't do that stuff. :)

    Diversification good or bad?

What is non diversified? My entire liquid net worth is in equities. No bonds, I own my own home but that's not liquid or does it provide cash flow and what ever meagre pension the Canadian government decides to send me. I rarely hold more than 10 stocks at one time, closer to 6 to 8. My risk...

In the spreadsheet the Target weighting is locked, It doesn't seem to be a formula, does it make any difference to the calculated results?

I'm not familiar with google sheets so I don't know where to look. It looks like you have hidden some data. Can you isolate where the problem is? Is it something that can be overridden?

    Diversification good or bad?

You will still have unpleasant losses. Just not in all asset classes. It also prevent you from experiencing above average gains for the same reason it offsets losses. If you are only diversifying with an equity portfolio you are wasting your time. In a market downturn most equities will fall.

OK. But to do that do I not have to make certain assumptions and the results the spreadsheet calculates are based on those assumptions. So if my assumptions are wrong the results will be off. Given what you know about my process, (right now I'm fully invested) what do I do differently when I...

My stock selection process by default should select stocks with the highest momentum factor. Stocks making new highs. Stacked moving averages. Ranked by outperformance of the benchmark index. OK so what do I do if momentum went down 1%. It is interesting information but how does it help me...

I gotta be wearing your patience thin and for that I'm appreciative. So I input the stock I have picked along with my position size and a wild-assed guess for a target. How does that tell me my factor exposure? The stock was chosen because it has momentum. (All my stocks are chosen that way)...

I got the spreadsheet you emailed thank you for spending the time and effort. From what I gather I use this to assess my holdings. I have to input some assumptions such as target price, hold time and position size. I'm still having trouble figuring out how I measure factor exposure or even...

    Risk Management is the answer

Nice of you to give your money a seven week holiday. Most traders are slave drivers and want to keep their money working for them. Remember the market always comes back. Eventually. Maybe!

    Risk Management is the answer

Well risk management is a great answer. I've heard two or three traders say that what they focus on is how much can I lose on this trade rather than how much can I win.

If risk management is the answer, what's the question? How do I keep from losing all my money?
