    CL Redux

Long scratched. You guys just couldn't push this thing through 92.19, could you?

    CL Redux

91.46 was a key level on more than one time frame, which is why we got a good bounce there. A break back down through it might not mean much, because 91.37 is the 20-day EMA. A break through THAT should result in some more selling. Watching for possible longs now (after 9 shorts).

    CL Redux

Had 3 shorts from the break of 92.67 and coulda made an addl 15 ticks just holding the original position. That early action turned me into a scalper :p

    Weinstein Trading and Fading

I can see why there's huge short interest. That's one fundamentally unsound company  Congrats, Bob, on your profitability!

Not only that the oil seems to have less viscosity lately; I've noticed more slippage. :D

    CL Redux

Thanks to our fearless CL Redux leader, I learned to do the "Schiz Flip" without remorse. Just don't do that crap around a flat 20-bar MA!

Apple earnings tomorrow after the close!

And thanks to a massive earnings beat and raised guidance, everybody who ever bought AAPL stock was able to close their position for a profit and lived happily ever after :p :p :p

    ES Journal Archive (2011)

I agree with this one. If you're expecting follow through to a "next level" (in your case, 1288.75), and price stops cold without getting there, probably not a bad idea to scratch the trade and re-evaluate the price environment. I had a CL trade today where I chased a long entry looking for a...

Apple earnings tomorrow after the close!

Huge earnings beat and I don't believe I've ever seen AAPL raise guidance on an earnings call. I may have to trade this :D

    CL Redux

Don't know about EON, but I got short via the "You sonofabitch! You come that close to the overnight high and can't push just a few more ticks???" setup. By the way, "Hi Picaso!" We missed you!

Call it a day after profit goal?

As a counter-trend trader turned trend-follower, one way for others like me learning to hold winners longer is to remember how long you could hold a loser as a counter-trender. Think about your worst losses (they're always counter-trend trades because if you're running with the herd, you're...

    CL Redux

I just addressed this particular trade in another thread, so here's my cut-and-paste answer: Before I trade each morning, I note S/R pivots in time frames larger than mine, specifically the 60-min and 1-day levels. CL found support Friday @ 90.10, and barely bounced. I took a quick look at...

    Averaging into trends using pivots

Yes, I understand that all too well from many incidences of buying high ticks and selling low ticks and scratching my head as to why there was absolutely no follow through on the move whatsoever. Before I trade each morning, I note S/R pivots in time frames larger than mine, specifically the...

    Averaging into trends using pivots

Bighog pounded me over the head with "always expect continuation" for over a year, and I didn't even have a clue about trend-following because I was strictly counter-trend. It was as if he were speaking a foreign language to me. I didn't understand breakouts and the psychology behind them, nor...

How To Trade Being In The Zone

Your secret to trading in the zone is that in your sim account you can average down and trade without stops and stroke your ego with consistent profitability, the likes of which you cannot duplicate in a live account. I challenge you to set your sim account to $10K, trade for one week with...

Anyone know of tricks to beating other traders..

I have growing concern for KTS's well-being. First, he's crawling around inside charts. Now, it seems he's contemplating crawling around inside dudes' pelts. Also, he has way more posts than me, despite joining ET two months after I did.

How to make Millions of dollars per day trading.

My first trade (2008): "Hmmm, XYZ went down 5% today. XYZ was a stock my husband bought in my IRA that was there for years before we cashed out in early January. Let's see why it went down. Hmmm, no reason. If it went down so much, it should go up again. I think I want to buy some. Let's...

Adding to winners not to losers

I had the same thought. You never know when a trend is over, so trade it until it's over. Often a trending move has 3 pushes, a small failed final push and then reverses. But there are times when a trending move has 7 or more pushes and after 3 or 4 pushes price consolidates, or drifts the...
