    devaluation of the dollar

CDS' were created out of the "Commodity Futures Modernization Act of 2000" which came about via legislation from several top Republicans in Congress, and signed into law at the last minute in December of 2000 by President Clinton. This also lead to the birth of Enron's ability to trade power...

Thanks Mup! I think that such a scenario would really catch a lot of people out . . . Stay tuned! By the way, OPEC made a -2.2 million barrel cut today. Russians don't have to have any production cuts because their production has already declined so much. January Crude ( which expires...

Apple Won't Exhibit At Macworld Expo After 2009

Kids and young adults do not go to TRADE SHOWS. Instead, they frequent the 250 Apple Stores that are now available. That is why Apple no longer needs to participate in MacWorld.

    devaluation of the dollar

I would suggest that you are not being entirely accurate in your characterization of the current deflation as being minor. This is substantiated by the fact that the FED is taking extraordinary and UNORTHODOX measures to combat the current deflation.

    devaluation of the dollar

Excuse me, but . . . "Housing starts fell to their worst levels ever ( the record keeping only goes back to 1959 ) and the CPI was -1.7% for November, which brought the annual rate of growth down to match the December 1986 and June 2002 lows of 1.1% from 3.7%" If the Economy wasn't...

Supreme Court turns down another appeal that claims Obama ineligible to be president

Rather than continue to look in the "rear-view" mirror about how or why Barack Obama got elected, can you tell me who he has appointed to his cabinet that you feel will lead to failure down the road and why?

Dow to end the day (12/16) up several hundred

True, this is an analogy that a lot of "newbies" tend to make, but don't really understand. Moreover, the FED has made it clear to the markets that they are ALSO going to be purchasing mortgages and asset-backed securities. Interest rate policy is not the only tool that the FED has at its...

    Ewj: elliott wave

Could this be an A-B-C that makes a "measured-move" up to a 955 target which just happens to be the .786 fib of the move down from 1007 on Nov. 4th?

In 20 Minutes The Fed Will Become Irrelevant

This is not Japan because the FED is being much more aggressive than what the BOJ did, with a TON more ammunition, not too mention the fact that the BOJ was very late to the crime scene. You also conveniently fail to mention that the BOJ raised rates far too early in the game as the Japanese...

    devaluation of the dollar

Lowering rates and adding liquidity to the credit markets is pretty basic stuff. They have been pretty straight forward in telling the market place that they are going to be buying mortgages and asset-backed securities. In your opinion, how does this seek to "confuse"?

    devaluation of the dollar

I would suggest that it's a "bet" that the FED can make given the fact that oil prices and most commodities have collapsed due to a much weaker GLOBAL economy.

    devaluation of the dollar

The FED is out of tricks? Who are you trying to kid? It's not just about interest rates, or have you not looked at the FED's balance sheet over the past couple of months? They can go into the market place and buy just about every asset in America, and beyond.

    devaluation of the dollar

I would suggest to you that Bernanke's actions today are more telling of an ECONOMY that is absolutely DEAD in the water . . . And for what its worth, Fed Funds spent most of November averaging around 0.40 percent.
