please share your thought process when you are looking at charts

I'm not going to be able to convince Mr. M that I trade just using charts. I agree that my experience helps because I have looked at a lot of charts over the years. A good part of my success I attribute to risk control, money management and keeping things simple. What ever info I see when I...

It does work for me and has for the last 20 yrs. I was just responding to the blanket statement "There is no way you can trade profitably with charts alone."

Keep in mind I'm an EOD trader. I get price and volume. I can see where price changes direction and the volume associated with that change. I trade momentum. If demand is pushing price up I buy. I can see that on a chart. What other information do I need?

I'm one of them. I'm happy with 20% consistently. What I pride myself for is keeping drawdowns to a minimum.

Is that information readily available to the retail trader? There is level 2 or better, but what I found is that bids and offers can get pulled quickly. Time and sales gave me a better look at what was actually happening but I can get the same info off a chart.

I spent years accumulating all that information. I checked the annual reports, looked at analyst reports, listened to the financial broadcasts and all it did was bias my decision making and caused me to ignore what the charts were telling me. I'm not saying I don't take a quick peek at the...

Keep in mind that my time frame is daily. It's hard to explain but this is my process Here is what I ask. What the price is doing right now? Where did it come from? Based on that, what do I expect it to do next. Is price being influenced by volume? What does price do on high volume days? What...

Don't usually trade US stocks. Home country bias. COIN isn't trading at all time highs so it wouldn't show up on my list.

Sounds good. I don't have a clue what they do but I like the chart. FWIW; It will depend on what the market does Monday, ( i don't buy on days the market is trending down) I'll take a small position, risking about 1/2 % of the portfolio so the position size will be about 5% of the portfolio.

How to be okay with taking a Stop Loss?

Probably shouldn't be called a stop loss as it doesn't stop a loss. Perhaps it should be called a quick loss. I like to refer to it as a capital protection exit.

Can you recommend a course on trading psychology?

I changed the way i thought about what was a successful trade. It didn't matter if I made money on the trade or not. What mattered was whether I followed the plan. Rate yourself by whether you followed your plan. Write down your reason for not following the plan. Write it down so you can...
