    Learning from our mistakes

When you make what you consider to be a mistake, do you write it down so you can refer back to it. I suggest you write down your mistake; then write out how you will avoid that mistake in the future. Everybody will make mistakes. You want to avoid make the same mistake over and over.

    Dunit, gone to cash!

Someone wiser than me said the market climbs a wall of worry. As long as everyone thinks it's too high it'll more than likely keep climbing. When you start hearing "this time is different" it'll be time to bail.

I don't worry about the trades I'm not in. I didn't have CAR either. Did your research put you in either of those trades? All I'm saying is that it is quite feasible to trade only with the information on a chart. Possibly with all the extra info you have access to, you have a superior strategy...

I guess that depends on what the price is doing when the last share is liquidated. My guess is it might increase as there isn't the supply. When there is nothing for sale buyers have to bid up the price to find sellers. I can look at a chart and see what has happened. All you know is that...

#2 Whatever the fund is doing will show up on the chart. If I know it so does everybody else. EMT. What price does will tell me how the rest of the market perceives the value of the holdings they are liquidating.

Just my experience but I have found that the more information I have the more likely I am to hold on to a trade the charts are telling me to get out of. Yesterday I was bullish because the markets are trending up.

The reason I look at charts is to see where price has been and is going. I trade price momentum. A good company is not necessarily a good stock. A stock is only a piece of paper (probably not even that anymore) not unlike a baseball card, the price is established by supply and demand. Does it...

You are right. I cannot answer that question with any confidence. But show me the chart and where the price is and has been and I can make some assumptions that I can trade profitably. What you can tell me is that x% of the time the market will do this or that. But you can't tell me for sure...

Isn't that just a different way to manipulate price data? Charts just make the same data visually pleasing. I don't think either the technician or the fundamentalist can tell you where the market will be next week. All they can do is tell you where they expect it to be based on the data they have.

    Diversification good or bad?

But it works both ways. You don't lose as much but you don't make as much. The more diversified you are the more you trend towards average.

Do that then. Talk yourself through what you think is happening as the candle forms as though you were explaining it to someone else.

Does it still make sense to invest in SPY longterm?

OK. Not exactly but close enough. Your point is??? If it's that I'm wrong, well that happens all the time. :)

They probably hire someone to do their research for them. Maybe even call up the CEO of the companies. I can't afford to do that and I can't get past the switch board. Mind you I'm not good enough to play on the PGA tour but I manage to take a few dollars off my friends playing golf. Gotta...

Does it still make sense to invest in SPY longterm?

SPY is a momentum trading system. You will always own the 500 biggest companies in the US. If you believe that the US economy will continue to grow, buy SPY.
