Is 50,000$ Enough to set up a trading account to earn a full time living?

It's tough to know what the OP meant. I would suggest that trying to earn a fulltime living with a 50K account would be challenging. I suppose you need to define a full time living. If you want to trade instead of working for minimum wage at 14 bucks an hour maybe you can. I don't think there...

Is 50,000$ Enough to set up a trading account to earn a full time living?

Tony Oz in his book "Stock Trader" traded a 50K account for a month in the dot-com heyday. I believe he made 28K that month. He pulled his winnings every Friday, so compounding wasn't a factor. Yes it can be done. Or maybe just for a short while. I think Oz finally went broke and quit trading.

    Method or Rule?

So it's kind of a martingale system. You mentioned you do have some risk control. What do your down days look like. One other poster with what sounds like a similar system remarked that his off days were horrendous and might take a month or two to get back to even.

    Anyone trading client money here?

Why wouldn't they seek out someone already in the business? Are they looking for a cheap management fee or just a gambler?

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

No; probably because at one time I got run over by the market when I was chasing it. Kind of like how I lost what I thought was a very smart dog.

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

Like I said, buy and hold is a long term trend following strategy. I guess it works well in the long term if you can stand the rollercoaster ride the markets like to give you. Myself I found didn't have the stomach for it, so I found a strategy that is worried more about keeping my what I have...

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

That's the object of a stop loss, to control your risk. Every trader that has ever blown up an account didn't use a stop loss. Not so sure about those who become filthy rich. Ask any successful trader what the secret is and most will answer keep your losses small.

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

Yes definitely circles. :banghead: I re-read your posts and watched the video.(Haven't had time to read the book) What I get is that bitcoin is a tradable asset. Driven up and down in value by fear and greed. Not unlike stocks or futures. What you and the YouTube guy are proposing is a long...

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

OK replace crypto with bitcoin. the same argument still applies. It's valued in dollars. It has risk and if you don't control your risk, it could affect your net worth.

    Method or Rule?

If you have unlimited funds a martingale system will eventually win back your original bet. That's why the house has a betting limit. Unless you have the discipline to follow your system you'll never be sure if the problem is the system or the trader.

Why does passive investing become so hot?

If you invest passively, buy an index ETF or even better dollar cost average into one. You will get very close to the same return as the index. Apparently that's a superior return than most actively managed portfolios. The bonus is you don't have to do any work, make any decisions or take...

    Hodling vs Trading in crypto

My problem with crypto right now is the volatility as most are still thinking in dollars. That's why the crypto currencies are quoted in dollars. I suppose you have to think in value. What can I buy for one bitcoin today? what will I be able to buy of one bitcoin a month from now? Today I can...

how do you know when to sell?

But it has nothing to do with process, only position size. Unless you are suggesting that the trader is trying to have a return of a fixed amount using different account sizes. Then the returns would have to be greater with the smaller account. If you are risking 1% of your capital per trade...
