Market's kinda edgy here, more tea for me (is that a "breakdown to 81.00" signal???)

emg, please please please just do a momentum trade once and target 4 pts. These 1 pt profits are making my brain itch :D :D

Only 1 contract because I didn't get in as near the pivot as I would've liked to accommodate larger size/tighter stop.

OK, this worked. Gotta be nimble in this market

I'm with you 100%. Woulda been short again off the lower high had I not committed the cardinal trader's sin of taking a tea break just because I had a profitable trade. :D

Actually I just pulled off counter-trend trade on CL based on a bar count into an extreme, but would not have averaged down under any condition.

K really smelled that breakout nicely in advance. I'm in awe :)

Yes a 5-min chart. Look at the 10:45am bar, that was bar 3 and not a very strong breakout through bar 2 before pulling back. I really can't believe with the strength of the initial breakout that price pulled all the way back to the 20 EMA on the first try. I'm muttering to myself for...

    CL Redux

.93 target lifted. Looks like I was maybe too conservative in that target, damn... EDIT: A reminder of my bar count hypothesis - starting with the bar that breaks through the previous high, count two more bars and the moment the 3rd bar pauses and pulls back a few ticks, short with a very...

    sh @ 84.22, stop to b/e because it's a bar count counter-trend trade

Why not post your entry, stop, target and exit so this has some meaning to us?

I define an extreme as a point where price has made 3 or more pushes in a trend (higher highs or lower lows) and then overshoots the upper or lower Keltner channel line by 1 cm  (I call this NoDoji's metric trend exhaustion reversal cue) So right now on a 5-min ES chart, I consider...

    What's wrong with this edge?

I agree with Austin and I usually have a 3:1 target or better unless I'm scalping counter-trend in which case it may be as low as 2:1. I really don't understand what kind of strategy requires a 1:5. It makes no sense to me even though it's a totally viable edge with a 90% win rate. I always...

I have secret recipe for precise entries :D I always wait for price to come very close to testing a previous resistance level, I no longer jump in early with a wider stop. When price tried to do that Friday and pulled back from a lower level, I would short 1 tick below the close of the...

Post a chart each day with your entries, stops, and profit targets, and also why you put on the trade. Once you get some constructive feedback, you'll find out where to make corrections. Think about it. Every day every stock and every futures contract offers long and short opportunities to...

Buying a Stock and Selling a Put

A married or protective put is when you buy a stock and buy a put to limit your loss in the event price falls. When you buy a stock and sell a put, you are making a double bullish bet. If the stock price falls you lose money on the stock purchase and you lose money on the put you sold...

    Nflx

You've held it through at least 3 earnings calls without taking off any of it. If you weren't concerned about your safety then, why worry now that it's at all-time highs, gained almost 70% in less than 2 months right after being downgraded by multiple analysts last month, and has a 20% short...

    What's wrong with this edge?

This is a statistically viable edge indeed, but I'm curious what kind of trade setups encourages the use of a 1.00 stop for a .20 gain.

He averages at extremes and has a reasonable level at which he exits if it doesn't work out. That's a lot different from selling a bottom or buying a top and averaging in as the trend clearly reverses there. Although I don't do it live, I tested average-down strategies at extremes in my sim...
