Why does TA not work (for you)?

Especially concerning trading methods that they know nothing about but still continue to hemorrhage opinions of what can or can't be done.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Part of my OHLC progression, combined with a couple other factors, does identify these situations and exploits them. Friday was a good example. I went long at 3:41, after market participants were "leaning" short. Nice way to end the trading day :)

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Thanks for answering the question. See, no method is just pushing a button. Something has to be setting up or presenting an opportunity. You don't just have a bunch of traders hitting keys whenever they feel like it.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Oh, now we are getting somewhere...when the SYSTEM presented a setup. You left that out.....and what did this system look at when creating a trade opportunity?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Objective TA has worked for me since 1998, but maybe that doesn't qualify as enough time if your book. And it can be tested but why would I want to share my rules with anyone? That's my proprietary system. Since I'm not SELLING anything, that's the last thing I want to do. You've worked with...

    TA doesn't work because ...

It's impossible to test all TA, there is an infinite combo of inputs.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Surf's on his soap box again. He said that trading has been "very good" to him over the years and he also said he used to trade using TA. Seems like TA has been very good to him :D

Have you been reading this thread or just posting based on the thread title?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

And yet you are dropping it all to start a brand new method that is unproven and untested. Why would you want to abandon something that's been "very good" to you?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Subjective? I don't think so. At least not for me. The price bars must OHLC a certain way, in a certain order with corresponding A, B and C characteristics. If so, I take a trade. If not, I keep observing. It's 100% objective. No guessing, no intuition. Of course, because I have been doing this...

Why does TA not work (for you)?

You can just say one or the other? I'm not asking for figures here.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Yep, and that's something I have to deal with on a daily basis. I know my method isn't scalable past a certain point but fortunately the mkts I trade are deep enough to offer very nice earning potential.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Surf missed this one, not intentionally I'm sure but he said he's a trader that likes to write about his experiences. Wondering which career he's made more money from so far?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

What field have you had more financial success in?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Exactly, which was my point. If you trade successfully using TA, most likely a chart alone will not suffice.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

Does your price drivers system work with the same consistency if you use only one piece and disregard the other components that have you "believing" in its success?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

I guess this is where we differ. What actually matters to me is having traded very well for many years now and continuing to do so. Whether someone reads my journal or not is inconsequential to me. I guess I don't have an ego in this regard.

Why does TA not work (for you)?

But as a cautionary tale of what not to do right?

Why does TA not work (for you)?

That seems only fair. If he requires 1000 trades from someone else, he also needs 1000 trades to prove his method.
