Don't mind Mandeltroll, he doesn't even really trade. During mkt hours, you can find him doing his grocery shopping, getting his nails done, walking his dog and possibly getting a facial at his local salon. When the mkt closes, he'll be sure to be here to doll out criticism :cool:

For me, this all happened on my own, staring at hundreds of days worth of charts and working through the many scenarios myself. Very rewarding stuff. ET is mainly for entertainment, if you use this as your template for viewing ET, you'll be much better off. And if you do read something...

Your post makes the assumption that new traders are SUPPOSED to be making money right away, which is so very false. Scalping is a great way to make money trading..if you are GOOD at it. No one says anyone will be good from the get go. My advice is to watch the market a bit and find what...

Stock is a young college lad with little life experience and even less mkt experience. He tries and is still trying to figure out how things work. He's having a rough go and let's hope he learns that it's ok to short sometimes, when the market is ripe for it.

Just b/c you choose to not see it doesn't make it fake. Stick to college activities, leave the market alone, for your own good.

You are never one to sulk, although the mere idea that you are letting us know you are not sulking to me, suggests, you are indeed worried now that the market has not retraced hardly any of the giant collapse of recent months.

The thing that isn't talked about much when it comes to trading is the fact that, if you go down the wrong path from the get go and develop bad habits (and hence traumatic experiences/results), they are so very difficult to break. Especially the longer you go without fixing them. Flashboy seems...

perhaps you are right, hard to know with such little info. and, yes, we've all been there, that's for sure.

My main issue is my signals work very well but they don't always go as fast as I would like. I may sit there for twice as long than normal and this makes me sweat a bit (after being in the trade). I like to be right and quickly :)

You are trading your P&L rather than sticking with your plan. A very common practice of course, but if you think about it, the market has no idea what you are up or down for the day.

fwiw, when I hear "protection mode" I instantly think this trader doesn't have a sound method and is getting lucky and, subconsciously, knows it. If the trader did, he would take his signals as they come, regardless of what he is up or down for the day.

This explains why there seems to be so many people who can't spell "lose" around here :)
